you guys giving this guy a hard time need to chillax.
this guy SIR V has gone out of his way not to name any shops or bad mouth them, good job.
this is a good thread IMO, clearly it helps shops to understand a phone call to let the customer know the repair will not match can go a along way, i have been stuck in this same situation. i always ask now.
also un informed kiters can now know what to ask for next time they get a repair. at the end of the day if you want something matched go to moti levy. if your not sure ask!!!
The first repair job had good stitching. ^^^
This type of stitch is called triple-step zig zag,
and is common to all kitesurfing kites.
The second repair job has poor stitching. ^^^
You can tell by the little Y's formed along the zig zag stitch.
This often means the thread was incorrectly tensioned and the machine was slipping.
Zig zag should be a series of little V's all connecting together neatly.
I'm no expert on kite repairs, but the first repair job looks much better, and stronger to me.
Sir V, any chance you could tell us where the first repair job was done so I know where a good repair shop in nsw is.
Ps. I am not taking the piss out of Moti levi. I would just prefer to get my kites fixed locally.
The second repair has been reinforced on the inside of the bladder. The top part is only to cover the hole I have been told.
I will not mention anyone beyond what I have already. That was not my intention.
It seems the point of my original post was completely missed so I will not go on about it. My post was simply an attempt to raise the standards and quality of service delivery.
I realise that we can't all agree on the quality we expect from out contractors and fail to see the point of accepting anything but the best it can be. My re-repair was never going to solve anything better, it was a simple demonstration that the job should have been done better and with more attention to detail. I knew well in advance that by having my kite unstitched and re-stitched I would run risks, but I had a point to prove to the shop owner - it should have been done right.
The point of contention is what is considered 'right'. As far as that, I chose to disagree with some of the comments made. Specially after it came back done as I would have liked it originally – re-enforced on the inside. Of course I am the only one that lost with my kite getting re-stitched. It may, or may not, have had its fabric weakened.
As much as the main opinion is that I should have put up with it, I disagree. I still feel that the point had to be raised. I was taught by my parents to not settle or agree just because everyone else does - so I shall not.
My intention wasn’t to put anyone down, simply to praise someone that deserved it while I proved my point – which to me, I did. What ensued was a normal dwelling in the art of dishing vitriol for lack of substance in real positive contribution. As we all know is quite common here – again, I chose to disagree with the process and refrain from participating.
Fortunately we are all different and some very positive and constructive opinions came to light. I know I have learnt a lot from this repair and posting experience.
Peace and good winds to all.
Good on you sir v for sticking to your guns and remaining subjective while others felt the need to sledge you personally.
The non preferred repairer was not named.
No personal attacks were launched.
Information about an experience was shared.
HTFU is funny but some people are getting way out of line and offensive with their responses - these forums are meant to be educational and fun...so lighten up crew.
"as well as coming out about the secret identity to family and friends."
It was never a secret, he said about Body Pump classes in his profile..![]()
Man I'm only having a joke. Hope that is clear to most. No malicious intent. Just though it was funny... Still do... haha. I hope the repair holds and continues to look pleasant to all who view it. ![]()
Didn't see a problem with the first repair and would have been happy with it. Have had Moti repair my kites in the past and he does an excellent job. If you want your kite looking like new send it to Moti.
Yo J, tks for the vote of confidence. Me being a ficticious character is actually quite funny![]()
. I might work on becoming a cartoon so I can come here and rant on all the other toons... can't stop smiling eheh!
And I thought all the bile had already been spilled in this thread and we were done and dusted.
Incidently: the kite is well and strong as ever. It has been thrashed and dumped and looped and all I could throw at it. I thought that since it had been 'badly' repaired the second time
I would kill it practicing all the bad stuff. Nah, Can't do it Captain, I ain't got the power - the bastard is too strong...
Love ya work guys.

Man if you knew the effort that goes into most sail repairs you often got to undo so much of the pannels before you can fix it ............ sail cloth stretches to the max once used.
Im completely lost as to what the problem is here ,The stiching was a good as ive seem on any sail repair .........
I wanted to see the replaced pannel ........................ Most sail makers try to match up as best as possible.
I THINK THE PATCH most likely suits you. ?
Is IT A PROBLEM because it could be seen as a status statue ? or are you fear full the patch might weaken the surrounding fade stretched materials .Therefore giving way the next time you boost 30 feet and it pops returning you to the earth like space junk. ![]()
So if you want all the advertising Brand names on your kit to match back up......... get over your self it really happens and or expect a bill for $500 Plus.
Spinnika cloth will / COULD blow out at anytime, so get used to it,
I LOVE THE NOISE THOSE KITES MAKE WHEN THEY EXPLODE ,DID IT GO OFF WITH A BANG?
Ps say yes even if it didnt ![]()
