Trailing edge and a clean tear?? Tape is all you need, unless its near a seem/is longer than ~10cm. Then get the ("missis"/or mum depending on your skill...i dont want to be sexist-i kno many guys who kno their way round a needle) to sew round the tape and over the damaged seam. Send me a photo and i'll show where you'll need tape and where/if really you need to stitch. It's not rocket science
I think it is called Mylar Tape, clear adhesive tape that sticks like sh!t to an army blanket. You can get it from Neil @ Hold the line. He has two types, the none stretchy one is the one to use.
Talk about sewing DIY, just repaired a friend of mines kite, ripped from LE to TE and along trailing edge all the way to the other strut. First time sewing, sewing was terrible but took it for a test flight on Sunday and it flew like a charm.
Please don't think I am trying to avoid going to Neil, my mate is battling financially and I also wanted to know if I could do it. Plus I like to make things myself. I think I will stick to the minor repairs and go to Neil for the major stuff.
Cheers
Rich
Yeah can't reccommend Neil highly enough, if it's a minor he can usually do on the spot if you get in there early (opens at 10) or same day if he's got a few repairs in.
By the NAB on cambridge st, wembley. And even if your strapped for cash he's bloody cheap. I tore a flexi atom in half last summer, $100 and i was flying the next day.
