Has anyone had any dramas with their KeySafe (Far King).
Went for a wave this morning and set it, come back and for the life of me can not get it open.
Thinking back the combination was a bit sticky when I initially locked it it but didn't think anything of it. It locked fine and left it at that. Now its buggered...
Will be call the Far King guys and see if they have any ideas.
As a side not I actually use it lock a tool box in my boot (which is also anchored down). So currently my phone and wallet are safely locked inside.
I was north of Perth recently where the sand is fine. It was 30kn and the lock got full of sand, buggered it - lucky to get the thing open.
Back at home I put it in a bucket of water for a while then jiggled the lock around to get the sand and salt free. Works fine again now.
Not sure of brand though, don't think it's a far king.
I'm on my second one already. Make sure your fingers are totally clean of sand . As soon as some fine amount gets between the numbered cogs its totally useless. It will totally cease up. No amount of WD will loosen it. After this experience I looked into many different options . There's a couple of really good push button key locks but if you have a modern electronic key the compartments are too small. Unfortunately this is the only brand that has a big enough compartment to take any size key & some credit cards, cash etc. Now I'm just extremely careful when opening it up. Very bad design IMO , especially when its designed to be used for beach activities. Bit of WD is good when you first buy it.
Just put your keys up behind the bumper, or on top of the spring seat on the struts. Nobody knows those spots.![]()
bury them in the sand like most of the Australian public does with their heads about the state of the economy.
