All,

I should be heading to Kangaroo Island soon, in a few days. Does anybody know of any
good spots and/or good places to stay? What is predominant wind conditions, from which direction and how strong?

Thanks,
Eric

Hey mate, I'm going down there in a few weeks as well.
Apparently from what I've heard, Vivonne bay is the pick for the south coast- it looks amazing on google earth with flat water in the corner and waves in the bay, and kingscote for the north coast. Predominant breeze will be s/sw seabreeze in the afternoons. You might get a decent northerly ahead of a change and I'm guessing NE through to SE in the early morning, evening and throught the night- although this will be predominately light. I'm guessing if there's a northerly, anywhere on the north coast is good but this is unlikely, and it will be short lived if it does come through. We're taking a boat so will consider kiting offshore winds provided there clean enough. I'm hoping that we can kite island beach and emu bay, but will just have to wait and see...

hey phx, have you been to island beach before?
It looks nice!
If you've been, is the seabreeze directly offshore or cross off? Is it really nasty puffy or not too bad?
That land between the south and north coast looks fairly flat.. hopefully its pretty clean for an offshore breeze.

cool, well if you see a yacht moored off the beach and a couple kiters about then that's probably us- come and say hello. We'll be around the north coast from nov27th through to about the 8th Jan. i'm a bit sketchy on this offshore stuff, but we have a yacht and a dinghy for rescue so I suppose it'll be alright. Problem is we can only take it in turns to kite so somebodys actually there to do a rescue :(

Seriously, it is a great flat water spot. The cliffs combined with Pt Ellen make for great wind ????????? What sort of a tool thinks thats a great spot to kite. Fooks's secret spot is busted, he'll be devestated with no place to ride choppy sh!t mixed with turbulance and southerly swell that wraps round the point. There is a better spot though. Cape De Coudie always gets a good breeze about 7:30 pm on a nice hot day.
