I found this kitebag on the naish kiteboarding site. If a particular airline allows golf bags to be carried for free you could possibly use this bag to carry your gear for free by using it. I thought it was a good idea and it might be useful to others. Cheers Jessehttp://www.naishkites.com/en/products/softech.html
The whole golf bag thing only really applies in the States and their Airlines. Travel from Australia etc it doesn't make any difference.
Too true Fozzy, however if you are travelling within Australia, Virgin Blue don't charge for sporting equipment!!! Which is so good, always fly with Virgin Blue from now on ![]()
I travelled the world with a naish 'golf bag' in the states u r allowed 2 large bags anyway... so I guess you could take 2 bags and a kite bag... but that would be dum as a kite bag and back pack are already too much too carry (but I did)
I never really paid overweight except one flight in brazil... I was lucky... I did some sweet talking... but it could get expensive if you fly in europe as I think they are the strictest!
i've got the naish golf bag,
i've used it to bring my gear over to melbourne for the christmas holidays while i vist my family and have found its pretty useful as you have all your **** in one bag, and if you can only get a small car you can lash it to roof racks which is pretty handy.
Virgin is great too cause they class your kiteboarding bag as a "surfing" or "surfboard" bag. Which automatically classes it as 5 kg. Everytime time i've flown my kite bag is at least 25kg's ![]()
Just dont fly JetStar and you will be right. Flown with Qantas and Virgin with no extra cost, Jetstar charged me $90 to carry it (never flying jetstar again!!)
The only problem i found with the bag is that it does not want to stand on its end, have to either lean it on something or lay it down.
bought a naish golf bag today at 3pm, first used at 5pm. broke a zipper. 90min later am packing for my flight and yet another zipper goes. delighted as you can imagine. the bags the cult come in are not of the highest quality either. kites are good though.
