Yeah send Sir Rowdy- he definately knows all about good style and whats right from wrong in kiteboarding - or is that wakeboarding?? I dunno either way send him he's an expert on all things power and style.
Or maybe Goon Dog: 'i would rather see someone stomp a back to revert or a front roll with power and style ..."
Thats what we need in cutting edge competition, more back to reverts and front rolls! He'll blitz the competition with moves like that!!
I can't believe Langeree, Hadlow, Lenten etc have been wasting all these years trying double passes, powered kiteloops and other inconceivable moves when they should be working on powered styley front rolls.
You boys are wasted on the forums, you should get out there on the world tour with all that style and power, $30k is good money!! Should be real easy to take it, you just need to throw a coupla big dangly pull-ups, then some powered styley front rolls, sweet..
oh my dear jammin your such a silly billy me and rowdy couldnt judge because we dont no any of the kitestyle lingo triple spin to quadruple handle swap etc..
hey rowdy didnt catapult spono you and send you off to compete at a PKRA event once?? or was that someone else??
Hey Steve,
what is the forum coming to??
You put out a genuine offer for an all expenses paid trip to one of the worlds best events in a tropical destination, and most of the responses come from a bunch of dumb-wits commenting on their mis-guided idea of kiteboarding.
Anyways, if they're still looking for a judge, throw my name in the hat.
I'll use hood rat and goondogs judging criteria to bring some credibility to the sport.
"oh my dear jammin your such a silly billy me and rowdy couldnt judge because we dont no any of the kitestyle lingo triple spin to quadruple handle swap etc.."
I'll just slam any rider doin triple spin with quadruple handle swaps, knock em out in the first heat, and put through some newbie kooks doing powered front rolls.
Would be sweet to see the final, we could eliminate Langeree in heat 1 if the best he can come up with is a Kiteloop 7, imagine the final showdown, front rolls and back to reverts going off!! Maybe even some super powered wake-style raileys.
Thats what I call a wakeboarding- I mean kiteboarding competiton.
Bring back the Style and Power!!!
You guys really have no idea do you, there is no point trying to convince you otherwise because you are never going to change your minds on anything.
who's to say i can't make myself national champ?????
Also yeah Andy is a pretty nice bloke, Ive had a couple of indepth conversations with him about physics and a few other things and i think you will find we are actually quite alike.
p.s. You guys agree with Jammin because like him you are so in the dark its not even funny.
ok. come on you guys you should stop joking now i mean SIR rowdy did write the book on power and style or should i say he re wrote the book cos someone els prob wrote it first and then he just told them what they did wrong.
and he does ride with enough power, style, aggresion and tech difficulty to be the australian champ...just ask his mum
but seriously sir rowdy did catapult send you off to a pkra event once??
and i have met andy and i doubt you are anything like him otherwise you wouldnt be constantly talking the arrogant **** that you do
Rowdy: a quote from you " there is no point trying to convince you otherwise because you are never going to change your minds on anything."
Whats it gonna take to bend your mind to the possibilities of progressive kiteboarding?
Have you watched any recent footage of the PKRA comps? have you seen Andy Yates Hadlow or any other top riders free riding in real life??
If you can't admit that these dudes are riding with power and style then you need to check your definition of power and style. Then add to that technical ability, innovation, dedication and imagination, thats what it takes to make the cut- and the top levels of KITEboarding, this ain't about WAKEboarding you gimp. power and style come in different forms, it doesn't all have to compare to cable or wake to make it credible. We've got our own sport.
Anyway, Damo has asked you twice now if you competed in a PKRA event, if you did, then good on you for putting your very large opinions to the test. How did you go?? I'm guessing the judging was all ****ed, and they were rewarding good technical ability and kiteboarding more than low level styley wake boarding front-rolls. Did you manage to change their mis-guided opinions? show them what real style and power was all about?
Seriously man, how did you do?
Reading this arguement is soo frustrating. Jammin' and Damo are trying to attack Goon Dogg and Rowdy by making thier arguement look ridiculous (i.e powered front rolls) when they never actually said that. The problem is wakestyle is poorly represented, most people who claim it are less technical and not that super styled anyway. Select few people like Dre can make it look really good and technical. I think for the wakestyle bracket of this sport this is what we should be aspiring to. The problem about Goon Dogg's and Rowdy's arguement is that they just hate on everything that is in straps, and in the real world their is a lot of powered riding going on in the PKRA. Shouldn't be hating on the equipment, judge the riding for the riding's sake. I ride boots because I find it easier and just makes more sense for me, if a move is powered I don't care if it is in straps or boots (although I do think it is easier to land in boots, hence why I ride them).
I think most people will agree it is all in a balance of style, power and technicality. In the recent years there has been a focus on technicality but because the moves are only newly learnt the style and power just havent been there. A mobe 7 isn't necessarily better than a mobe 5 or a mobe its all about the afore mentioned balance. With this push towards technicality, to get enough air to land these moves riders have to raise their kites a little. I agree there is certain leeway for extra technical tricks and learning them, but sometimes the same tricks could be done more powered. Because to get that high with you kite low you really got to huck it and if you crash it really really hurts and because in kiteboarding you got an option, most of the time people opt for the easier one. Which is an advantage to learn tricks but as far as impressiveness of the trick, its always gonna look better the more psycho it is, this is an extreme sport after all.
The general difference in opinion is how people like the balance between style, power and technicality. It just depends where you set the "gay" dial where the kite is just too high to properly stomp the trick in ones opinion. Really most people like the same thing just slight variations of where their "gay" dial is at.
In essence I agree with Spacemonkey!
At the moment the PKRA is stuck at which should be rewarded more out of the kitelow Aaron style with grabs and the Keven hard out crazy power with the kite a little higher. They are sooooooooo close it's not funny. 2 completely different styles and incredibly hard to judge.
So Aaron is wakestyle in my oppinion and Kevin is just hard out kitestyle power. This in turn can lead to problems about what the PKRA is about.
i wasnt going to bite again and post another reply on this thread but hey there is no wind and i am bored so what the hell
I realy couldnt care less what you style nazis think about whats more "legit" or "hardcore" and "more powered" or "more difficult" because thats just your opinion and you are more than entitled to it but it does annoy me how negative you guys can be about kiteboarding and some of you do nothing but post about how gay this is or how gay that is and how **** this person is and how **** that persons style is and blah blah blah if you hate kiteboarding so much and think wakeboarding is so much better and more hardcore cos you are more likely to hurt yourself then why dont you just man up put your kite down and go wakeboarding??? i mean why do you continue to do a sport wich you think is "copletely gay"
spacemonkey
sorry dude but yes goon dog did actualy say 'i would rather see someone stomp a back to revert or a front roll with power and style ..."
almost forgot congats on your 1600 post!! is that a record?? does anyone have more posts than that?
rowdy
ahh where to start?? you make so many big statements and like i said its your opinion so ill leave it be but i will say one thing if you realy want to help proggress the sport you are not going to get very far by trying to shut people down all the time by saying they are just crap and gay and they are doing it all wrong. now i dont know you from a bar of soap but i have to say from reading some of your very frequent posts on this forum you dont realy come across as a very friendly or open minded person but that can be the problem with internet forums what you type is open for interpretation by the person that reads it and i hope i just interpret most of your posts wrong because from what i hear you are actually a very talented rider (and i have seen an impressive short vid of you) and it would be a sham if a rider like you was actually as arrogant as you sound sometimes come across.
oh and jammin is not an annonymous account its Lance Gelden! a well known and very respected rider in perth he puts alot back into the sport he is an active waksa member and organiser of one of Australias best kite comps (you just have to left click on his handel to see his name)
ok thats enough of my rant i think i'm gonna head down to the beach and check the wind or at least all the hot swedish chicks that hang out on the beaches over here
oh and rowdy you still havnt answered my question! was that you that catapult sponod and sent of to a pkra event a while back?? and if it wasnt you then do you know who it was??
no response from goon dog in awhile... where has he gone.. did he travel o.s. to escape the windless winter here in oz... where are u goon dog.. hooowwwwwlllll
