Just received my new Cardboards Tempo in the post with custom graphics. Looks awesome, but not allowed to ride it until Xmas![]()
One thing that looked strange was the finish on the bottom of the board. While the top is all shiny and smooth, the bottom had a rougher, matt finish. Does anyone know why this is? Is it to make the board less skittish or something?
Hi Kitesplosh,
The textured finish is supposed to trap a thin layer of water against the bottom of the board called a "boundary layer". It then holds that water in place and it rides along with you against your board. The water provides a barrier to surface friction as now you have water against water friction which is less than water against hull friction.
Hope this makes sense to you.
Cheers,
KH
same reason that a smooth golf ball don't fly as far as the popular and farther flying dimply one.
Yay for science!![]()
my question is why in gods name aren't you out on it?!?!?!
Jesus' birthday is AGES away, and if he were here (and actually existed) he would say,
GO FORTH and RIDE THINE BOARD OF NEW SHINNY AND MATT LOOKINGNESS!
Religion is what people who are bad at sports do on the weekends to make them feel good about their life.
one of the best experessions i've heard on the subject of religion is:
"religion is like a blind man who is in a dark room, looking for a black cat that isn't even there..."
- though I do know some fantastic 'religious' people, who happen to bee outstanding sportsman/waterpersons too![]()
"Ive got a rough bottom"
Getting drunk and passing out on Oxford St will tend to do that to you. Let me guess you woke up with a bloody arse and clenching a note saying thanks for the good times big fella.
On religion I prefer to read non-fiction.
