New to the whole forum thing, but would love to hear if anyone has or have had an ion wetsuit before. I have been looking into the 2016 Ion Onyx but before i lay out the cash for it i would love to hear people opinions about them
Cheers in advance
I had an ION about three years ago..... ( Strike over knee)
Was my favourite wetsuit..... Lost it when my car was stolen got my car back but no wetsuit ( or kites etc)
I had it for about 2 years seemed good quality never had any issues.
I have the onyx 3/2 steamer- really pleased with it, comfortable and light, dries quickly and substantially warmer than the Hurley POS it replaced
The one thing I would say is they are not the most flexible (good but not as good as a dedicated surf brand - you would only notice this if you also used it for prone surfing)
+1 love them.
over the past 25years tried a shedload of brands and I used to believe you could go past rip-curl but I brought one of these last season and loved it. Same comfort and dry time but because they are wind orientated the block the wind better with their materials that they use, so I find them heaps warmer than a general surf suit.
Plus the other thing I loved was the leg drains, so I didn't have to cut them off like previous wettys to stop ballooning ankles.
Pretty much they are designed around the sport and therefore they work
I meant to get the top-line ION 3/2 but ended up getting a psycho fuze on sale. Reviews for ION seem good.
Love Ion gear.
Harness is really good.
Got one of their springers and its a shame its always either too hot or too cold.
My ripcurl & q'silver gear fell apart in a few months, won't ever waste my money again!!

Hey mate,
What is the suit going to be prominently used for?The ONYX (chest zip) range is designed with surfing in mind.
The STRIKE (back zip) range is designed for kite and windsurfing. They have extra padding around the ribs and slightly looser fit in the arms to allow for muscle fatigue associated with kiting. Both come in base, amp (better liners and neoprene) or select (cold water).
check out your local store and see what suits.
I have both Strikes and Onyxs and love them.
(disclaimer, I work for ION. Regardless, i honestly feel that the Strike suit is the best suit available for kiting. After all it is specially designed for it.)
enjoy
