I recently made a claim for a car break in - broken window and items taken. I found out that $500 worth of personal items (only sunnies and clothes) taken are only covered when the entire car is stolen (with my policy). Not happy with this and looking at a switch I rang around I found out Ozicare cover is similar but only in a collision. Alliance will cover for $500 of stolen stuff in the event of a break in but again only for personal items (only sunnies and clothes).

Does anyone know of policies that will (definitely) cover stolen kiting gear if your car is broken into?

Hey Simon I had kite gear listed on my home insurance with wesfarmers, and was covered in transit, anywhere in Australia as long as not in use, cost an additional $65

Be careful of Wesfarmers. They discriminate based on individual circumstances and will cover or not cover you, even when you pay your premiums on time. I am referring to general car insurance - 3rd party, etc. Total theives in my view.

Wfi are way too expensive. Having said that never had an issue with home claims but never tested my gear policy. We've just left wfi

Home contents insurance often cover items lost/stolen/damaged while away from home but as far as I'm aware they often exclude sporting goods while in use.
