I'm coming for a quick trip to WA for 5 days from Friday and unsure about what gear to bring.

Which wetty will be OK for the Yallingup/Margaret/Graceville area? Short sleeve spring or steamer? Boardies?

Surfboards-looks like some swell-bringing normal 601 and 606 mini-gun-OK?

Kites-bringing 6M and 9M. OK? (Normally ride a 9M here up to about 25 knots).

Just not sure how cool it is over there compared to E Coast-I'm just in boardies over here but understand the water is cooler over there-and hopefully windy too (offshore AM and crosshore PM).

Been to Indo SO many times and flown over WA and always wanted to check it out-finally have the chance.

Any dramas with getting gear stolen along the way-we'll be in a dreaded Britz van-so easy target and obvious non-local.......

Thanks for any input.

If you can only take one wetsuit.....
then bring a steamer.

bring everything you mentioned
conditions can be anything in summer from flat to small to large to very large over a week
hot to cold
wet to dry

I found a steamer is the wetty of choice for surfing, as water is cooler than most places, if it is 40deg c, then maybe boardies and rashy. kiting you may get by with something less

have a great trip

Yeah thought a 2/2 S/S steamer and a S/S Spring would be the go.

I assume just ask the locals about any issues on where to and not to kite?

Looking at the stretch between Yallingup and Margarets-just surfing and kiting that stretch (with a last dash to Denmark to check it out if we have time before a drive back to Perth on the last day)-looks like swell and wind for the time we're there-so pretty stoked on that.

If you want flat water with a twinny then dunsborough looks like it could be on Sunday, Monday and or Tuesday mornings (get there early as usually all over by lunch). It is not normally good here 2 days in a row so keep an eye on the forecast if you can.....

If strong south easterly then go to augusta for the (flatest water ever !) glass in the river or the waist to chest high waves at the mouth and up the beach.

Margarets main break is the go for waves. If its on then you will see the kites. Looking at another forum posting there is a comp there on the 7th from 2pm. Yallingup may be a good option also.

Good luck ! have a great trip !

Looks like there will be plenty of wind and waves to greet you on Saturday anywhere between Yallingup and Margs but it mighty be worth heading straight to main break (Margs) as that looks like you best chance to see it really firing, your gunna have a ball.
It is quite a drive to Denmark with probably less chance of wind and waves so not sure if it is worth it if you only have five days, but it is a nice spot and a nice drive,
not much to see between there and Perth though.
I find a SS springy is enough for me around the Margs area at this time of the year but plenty of crew still wear steamers, if you are going down around the Denmark area then yep pack a steamer for sure.
Enjoy

The only time I got broken into was at Conto's car park. Do the usual - leave the glovebox, etc open with nothing exciting in it.
