It looks like competitors will be up for sensational winds tomorrow for the inaugural Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton Race, with BoM forecasting 18-23 knots, S/SW winds.

Featuring speed demon Alex Caizergues who recently became the first kiter to break the 100k's per hour speed record, and 50 other local kiters, this event is going to go off.

With trainer kite sessions for the public (from midday), and a free style exhibition early in the afternoon there are plenty of reasons to get down to Leighton on Saturday afternoon.

The race itself will begin at 2.30pm from Rottnest Island, and we expect the first kiters to hit the shore at Leighton within 45 minutes. With 18-23 knots forecast, it's going to be a keenly contested race. Will Alex Caizergues be the first kiter home, or will it be a local guy or girl? Make sure you're there to witness kiting history in the making!

We enourage all WAKSA members and members of the public to come down to Leighton Beach tomorrow afternoon to watch the event and show their support for the lucky 50 kiters who will make the inaugural crossing in this event.

WAKSA appreciates the support given to this event by Red Bull, Fremantle Port Authority, Rottnest Island Authority, Rottnest Express, Cabrinha, Kite Addiction and Yellow Jersey Strategies in order to make this event happen.

Should be a great race. For the lucky 50, enjoy. Lets hope that this becomes an annual event.

Hi there Stabber!

Congratulations on being selected as one of 50 competitors to race in the inaugural Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton. We can’t wait to have you be apart of Australia’s longest open water kite race!

As an integral part of the festivities afterwards, We at Red Bull emplore you to bring along your Norweigian Back-packer friends, as we hear they can suck start most non-fuel injected combustion engines.

We have also taken the liberty of sabotaging all other competitors (if they can be called "competition") as a token of our undying appreciation of your faithful contribution to our carnal needs.

Our loins await thee our Stabbs...
