Why are you guys so mean to windsurfers, now I'm only new to both sports but hasn't windsurfing been around a lot longer? Kinda like Skateboarding has been around a lot longer than roller bladers (kiters) then they started coming on our ramps and getting all mouthy and disrespectful. All that has settled down now and they've excepted their place, they don't think their better anymore they just keep quiet because they've realized they look like idiots trying to compete with a much harder and skilled sport such as skateboarding (windsurfers)

Can you see it, E.g.Roller bladers (kiters ) / Skateboarding (windsurfing) E.g. Body boarders (kiters) / Surfing (Windsurfing)

Maybe you should just except your place.

Injuries from skateboarding would be pretty similar to injuries from rollerblading.

But would the injury from windsurfing when something goes wrong be similar to injuries from kiteboarding?? Hence is the risk factor the same?? Hence are the same amount of skills needed to manage the risks in both sports (if talking about skills)... or talking about amount of guts needed to take up those risks... but i'm still not saying one is better than the other...

Still... who sais we ever need to compare the two sports or have competition between the two... just because they both rely on wind ... are we gonna start bagging yach racers next... i mean, sitting in their comfy boats not even getting wet... with their blue and white stripy shirts... and the white captain hats... that's so gay...

Hey smelly, I agree that blading is a lame sport (probably just a hangover from my skating days when all skaters used to bag them). But I think you will find that the first skateboards where planks of wood with roller-skate wheels screwed on, and because roller skates are near identical to rollerblades (small difference in the wheel placement) the rollerskating/blading concept was around before skateboarding making your statement above a crock of **. As for comparing kiters to bladers this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, Kiters share no similarities to bladers in any way shape or form (the two sports are a world apart).

As for deciding on either windsurfing or kiting, try both and pursue the one which gives you the best thrill and provides the most fun. Choosing a sport based on your conceived image of a sport (based on what your mates say) is a poser thing to do and makes you a bit of a hypocrite after reading you rattle on about posers.

The first skate boards were planks of wood with drink crate boxes on the front probably closer to a scooter, also you could say that roller blades are a cross between roller skates and ice skating on street. Yes some skate boards probably had roller skate wheels too. Alex Sanz probably used to ride the bananna boards doing the lame tricks too but then his eyes would have lit up when he saw roller blades, he would have been straight on them skating down the board walks. So when kiting came along Alex's eyes would have popped out of his head thinking "wow this sport is the roller blading of the water sports, I can wear my pink speedos over my wetsuit when I do this "cool" Then the next generation of kiters who thought they were "cooler" wore boardies over their wetties because they thought Alex was an old lame kiter even though they watched Alex and wanted to kite like him.

My statement was roller blades not roller skates if it were roller skates I would have said roller skates, yes roller skates have been round get it "round" (Alex Sanz jokes) longer however they are not roller blades are they? No

Yes comparing kiters to roller bladers would be the dumbest thing to you because your in denial and don't want to be seen un"cool" Don't be so defensive and just accept it.

You're bang on Joe and I doubt he ever will. I'm gonna do this and gonna do that. This little boy is trying to be cool by association. "I post on a windsurfing/kiteboarding forum so I'm one of them aren't I".

Skater or whatever you want to call yourself, you rattle on post after post, lamely trying to disguise provocative and at times offensive remarks with the most pathetic bunch of ill disguised questions ever seen. You're so far from legit on any of this it really is a cry for help isn't it. There's as much truth to you taking up either of these sports as there is in you living in South Africa.

Go back to playing online dungeons and dragons little man. Of course we'll have more posts from you yet though won't we. We'll hear how your feelings are hurt, and how nasty kiters are but how gay they are at the same time all the while being a bunch of posers. So you'll tell us yet again how your going to take up windsurfing instead cause their cool. Well for god sake go and do it you pathetic individual and stop wasting everyone elses time with your lame assed dribble.

Right, how's everyone else doing anyway.

Me thinks you are waaay to young to even know what "any" is.

I really dont understand why your trying to pick which sport to get into based on what other people think will make you look cool?

You will learn when you grow up a bit more that what other people think ,dosent matter.Long as you enjoy your sport, who gives a fig wheather others think your cool or not.

Once your balls drop, the ball will drop that this whos cooler than who only matters to tosser try hards.

oh by the way , kiters are heaps cooler than polers lol

I have a new question; Has anybody lost any fingers to kiting? Looks like if your kite goes down and you get tangled and then it takes off again you could be in trouble, is there a safety system invented for that kinda thing yet?
