Get some lessons.
If you are in Sydney KBL or Kitepower - both down at Botany Bay where a lot of people kite.

Try posting in the NSW section.

I have a good 15m Slingshot Fuel if you are interested in a good learning kite. Comes with a 5th line for 100% instant depower. Only really used once.

Try some posts in the Newbies section. Also try hanging round your nearest kite beach and talking with kiters after theirs session. Most are very happy to talk kiting with anyone keen.

Ignore this one KiteBoy. A 15m kite is wayyy too big for a beginner, unless you're obese.

And if you are obese, that's ok, we are an accepting bunch. In fact this is the reason so many kiters are overweight, to make you feel good about your inner self.

And again save your money. An ice addiction would be cheaper.

They are your best friend - when you are both running from a large carnivore.
