Can anyone give me some tips on where i should be putting the kite after i take off when trying to do transitions? I have no problems getting height but i seem to fall pretty quickly and slap the board on the water. Not sure i'm ready to kite loop.
I think i might be too slow or too quick in dipping the kite in the direction i want to go.
Thanks.
I can help since iv learnt backroll transitions in my last too sessions still fresh in my mind... when you pop off the water make it a solid pop popping you straight up so you lose the momentum. As soon as you reach the peak of the transition send the kite as fast as possible the other way. landing shouldnt be any different from a small boost
Thanks lex,
after thinking about for a bit it think i am just doing everything a bit too slow when i'm in the air.
Cheers.
Hey mate,
I used to have similar troubles, the trick is to be very aggressive and the addition of a down loop at the end can make a huge difference to whether u ride off planig or sink like a rock. In general becoming familiar with looping your kite can smooth out your riding overall,

if your doing the pendulum thing and under flying the kite , your going landing with a plonk, speeding up the kite wont necessarily help either.. in fact with poor take off it may make your landing worse because your going to stay longer in the air with more height and hence pendulum more
, looping as you come in to land effectively helps to bring the kite forward of your position so you don't pendulum in the landing.
also work on edging and pop as you send the kite , carve aggressively upwind just as you send the kite up, you should be able to transition real slow/lazy with sending the kite and land smoothly, so speeding everything up with the kite isn't such a factor in my humble opinion as your edge in board take off.
Does the downloop at the end result in the kite sitting further back and stop it from racing to the edge of the (other side) window, as it always seems to for me?
Pretty much, if you find that fter the transition you dive the kite but still don't have enough power to keep going then a downloop will help greatly. You can also start doing them earlier and earlier until you are essentially doing a kiteloop.
