Hi guys just looking for a way to deliberately kill the power in a kite in an emergency
Ivr seen guys at my local play around with the lines above the bar to make the kite fall out of the sky when self landing are they just pulling on one front line similar to flagging without having to reset safety etc obviously you would have to make sure to not get your fingers caught in lines

In an emergency pull the safety.

What you have seen are not emergency landing techniques. They are simply self landing techniques. Google solo landing videos .There's a bunch around.

As Plummet says this is not an emergency technique as such, but an essential skill to be learnt if you ever want to kite solo.

I've seen a few guys do it at Brighton/Hampton, you yank the two middle lines and it makes the kite angle change and it floats to the ground, I haven't had much luck with it though. I've seen a guy on a Naish kite do it a few times when the kites in the air and it just falls straight to the ground.

I can self land, but this guy at my local does it when the kites at 12 and it just drifts down - when I try it it just tumbles down.....

Light wind, bar out.
Fly kite to twelve and as the momentum of the kite tries to fly it over your head, step forward a couple of steps under the kite and pull the centre lines.
Kite falls from sky and you catch it before it hits the ground.

Party trick, no real use otherwise and the possibility of the kite catching some wind and doing whatever it wants.

I was about to suggest the same as this, but not recommended for beginners. It's a very risky move should the kite suddenly decide to catch wind again and go someplace else!

You may have someone using this technique, but I wouldn't recommend it!

If you pull on the 2 front lines, don't let go until the kite has landed!
