Here's Ruben Lenten showing a really sensible way to self launch your kite in 30 knots of wind...LOL

The old reverse launch...
Providing theres nothing down-wind of you it's not that bad. The 09 fuel does this no worries, and at least you know the lines are straight and theres no issue of bridle tangles. As you pull on both back lines and the kite flies backwards theres not much pull and when it pivots theres no torque, the only pull is when it flies up to 12.... The bar has so much depower even this isnt hairy.

Agreed it is a good way to launch in big wind with a small kite. Solo side window launches in big winds have a VERY high risk of tangled lines.

Perhaps not a great idea to reverse launch directly upwind of your car / any other object that will result in an ouch...

Still, not recommend for the faint hearted / beginners / smart people
