Come on pimp fest!!!

Talk to your instructor, use the gear review section, believe half of what you hear and don't buy the first thing you see.

08 dna are great kites for learning and the surf and very forgiving
if your in Perth a 9m or less would do for starters for your weight

If you go to the kitejam tomorrow there`ll be loads of poeple to talk to and get a wider perspective, or should I say get more confused on what to get. And I think they`ll have stuff on sale there, you might pick up a bargain. Personaly I think any newish kites, 2007,08,09 bow and hybrid are good enough for starters. If you go down any kite spot you`ll see a wide variety of kites being flown, so it must boil down to personel preference. If one particular kite was the best then why don`t all the experienced kiters fly it? What size board and kite did you learn on? And did that work fine for you? If so then that is your guide line for your own gear.
Good luck, have loads of fun.

2g is not your limit... it is only you starting purchase price... you will never be happy with just one kite as you will want a light + high wind kite as well as a few boards...

at 65kg you'll spend most of your time on a 7m (Perth) 9m (Broome) or 12m+ (Switzerland) depending on style of kiting board being used, where you live(kite)...

things folk want to know before they can offer advice..
where you live + kite...
style of kiting you want to concentrate on... freeride, freestyle, waves, snow, land...

www.google.com look for your biggest (largest brand range) kite store pop down and chatter with the boss... if you think he will help you when your kite needs a repair or when you need advice on this and that... then that is a good place to start and a good brand to ride...

i sell BEST here in Switzerland... bit far away to come for service, help and repairs...
STICK BY YOUR LOCAL GUY...
top blokes in the business to look out for are..
Graham Baker at CHOICE (Best, Slingshot, GK, NEW, FLEXI, Flysurfer) large range + good service...
if you're on the east coast the geeza name Steve from kitepower has a large range...

google it dude!

click on a few of the banners rolling over the top of the forum page and you will find the answers with out the imput of clueless noobs or brand pimps like ME... (YOUR SUB CONSIOUS IS TELLING YOU TO BUY A KAHOONA FROM BEST)

good luck and remamber 2g is the starting point....

i weigh 65kg and get out from 12kts to 25kts on a sb2 and it's outlasted any other kite i've had. if i had 2 grand i'd be straight to the shop for a 10 meter sb3 ids.it has better safety features than what i have. stronger than 25kts you'd fly a 6 meter.

im 60kg and i ride my 10m SB3 in winds from 15knt to 30+ knt. SB3 are awesome and they have really good depower. also if you are after a board i would go for an underground flx. very nice boards which are soft on landsing and through the chop and they have excellent pop.
