my oldest son has started a video blog and is looking for input to make it better. It was shot in Manitoulin island at one of my favorite kite spots. Unfortunately the wind was a no show but he will have kiting footage at some point.

Looks like he knows what hes doing already with the editing, much better than I could do. Only suggestion I would have is not too long, maybe around 3-4mins. I know I usually start fast forwarding if its any longer looking for the good bits. Unless its an extremely awesome vid, then id watch hours of it

Footage way too shaky.

He need to read up on how to reduce camera shake. I gave up watching cause I couldn't be bothered putting up with the shakes. If it was really interesting I would have persevered but it wasnt, at least the start wasn't. No sure what happened after

I jumped through it.

I don't think people will be interested in a video blog. Its a bit like being on Twitter.

Getting rid of the shaking is a start. Choosing the right music helps. Having a message that people are interested in or having a 'visual' story which combines well with the music can work.

It has to be worth people taking some time out of their lives to watch. They don't want the 'well that was 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back' feeling.

That may seem harsh, but I agree with Freddofrog.

Its not an easy thing to do to be a successful film-maker. He does seem to have editing skills.
