Heading to Hawai'i in may
5 days on Kauai and 5 on Oahu. I'm taking the kitegear along (obviously).
So anyone who's been to either of those islands, got any reccomendations on things to do, places to kite, and of course awesome eateries? I know I could google this (and i have), but well I value seabreeze people's opinion more than google's
Cheers

I was there last May, it was windy on the north shore of oahu and not on the south shore, but kauai had lots more wind and some nice spots on the north and south shores. But for the most consistent winds in May, Maui is much more reliable, although a lil crowded!

G'day Beersy,

I went over 2 years ago in July. Spent most of my time in Kauai, very relaxed place frendly people etc. Heaps to see and do. I didn't take my kite when I went though but I watched a few guys kiting. They were all on 7m.

My sugestion would be to do a helicopter flight around the island when you first get there and then you will be able to sus some cool spots. I went with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, you get a DVD etc so you can look back on it.

Also suggest to go on the Kalalau Trail to Hanakapi'ai Beach. Cool spot but its a fair hike.

PM me if you need anymore info.

Cheers

Hi there - last year I went to Maui in the first week of May and totally missed wind - there was no kiting on the north shore on even one day that week. It was hugely frustrating. The two volcanoes on the island funnel some wind through from the north so I did get a few sessions in on the south side near the Maui Sunset - marginal with a 12 metre. If I were doing another kiting trip to hawaii I would definately try to leave it till June/July.

Cheers for all the tips guys. Yeah we got excited at 700 dollar return flights and just booked before they sold out without really thinking about the season. Still, Just hoping we score some wind
Anyways , the helicopter flight sounds like a good idea and you get the bonus of an awesome view
Cheers
