Struggling to find out decent information regarding Honolulu during August.

Some reports say average 2-8ms aka **** and others say trade winds holding 20ish knots 50%+ of the time.

Google has not been my friend.

Anyone help out?!

OK. I have just returned from two weeks in Kailua and Maui.
On Oahu you can kite at Moks or Kailua in the main. Moks up the top has more waves and you will need an 8-10 max. If you go to Kailua you will need a 10 and a 14 as the wind is a little less. Check out windfinder, windalert and also ikitesurf and they will show winds in MPH. Enter the location and they will show the wind stats. If you are staying in HNL then you will be in Kailua via the Pali Hwy in 30 mins. Moks will take you 50 mins. Kailua is more friendly, kite up and around flat island and Lanakai and enjoy the coral and turtles. Set top good on grass and whilst the beach is tight it is sandy and someone is always willing to assist.

+1... I've been there a couple of times around July/August - needed a 14m for Kailua (which is a nice chilled out spot, plus an awesomely fun drive on the Pali). I took a day to go across to kite beach on Maui and it was macking, I was lit on my 8m.
