G'day all,
Looking for your opinions, just wondering if any one out there changed the rear quad fins on a Nugget, any performnace gains or loss?
Thanks for your time, cheers,

Yeah i sort of did that. Basically, i have a WAM and i don't like it as a quad, so i use it with the classic three fin set up. I took one of the extra back fins from the WAM and replaced a lost back fin on my Nugget. Haven't noticed a difference. Guess this doesn't really answer your question, but there you go… Problem with North is their peculiar fin box. Wish everyone just used FCS or something standard that makes swopping fins easy.
Hey Puetz can't comment on the nugget but just recently put MUCH larger front fins in my quad which I was having trouble with getting upwind in lighter conditions, has completely transformed the board in drive and upwind ability but only marginally stiffened it, and well worth the expense and time of doing it, so pretty stoked... Was going to move the old front ones to the rear but after the performance gain didn't worry about it, no doubt it would provide more drive if thats what you're after. I did a recent post on fin performance with some good comments on there which led me to trial the fins, so imo well worth trialling.
... I recently got the 5'5" Nugget and found its a bit more technical to ride than the older Nugget and I know they are different boards in outline but the fins are quite different also so wondered why North went to the 'more upright' ones (NQ fins). Would changing the rear fins to the older swept back ones (second image) be better or worse, logically North wouldn't attempt to bugger it up but what were they aiming for in gaining performance?? Any guesses?
^^^^ ... ahh yeah that make sense,,, thanks for the link, cool info.
Logically thinking about it now it all looks obvious now!
The pivot turn is alot more tighter compared to the older version Nugget and its the fins that help. It can really snap back and forth,,, actually got me out of trouble dodging some steep sections so I could run away getting out the back.
I reckon had I put the straps on I probably would go head first into them so no need to dodge so quickly.
cheers guys,
