For those thinking of a winter holiday escape uncrowded.. No euros no Noobs ![]()
The place which faces higher wind speed than any other location in the world is Commonwealth Bay on the coast of Antarctica where wind speeds are 200 miles per hour on average and so it can be considered as the windiest place on earth.
One more fact about wind speed is that, at 50 miles per hour the atmosphere temperature of zero degrees will also be felt like 56 degrees'F and so you can imagine what will 200 miles per hour wind speed be like.
Take a small kite

Funnily enough, was down there over the summer... yep some pretty full on katabatic winds for sure! It's an awesome spot, no noobs and the landscape is dome-shaped as a result of the wind! It was suprisingly very kiteable on one of the days - I figured you'd just need a good drysuit and wished I had my gear. Would make a sweet movie - the scenary and wildlife are spectacular. Don't know about those leopard seals tho!
