G'day guys,

thanks for kind words. We're a bunch of normal dudes just have'n fun 'cause its fun!!! .

We only have 3 regular groms who are into the kiting as much as we are, they love having a go for sure! Only they bounce better than we do, so sure as sh!t their gunna get better than us!

Last year on our yearly trip to Vietnam we went kiting at a beach called Cemetary's. The name tells it all, its not a place for the faint hearted. I'm 6'4" and I faced some hum-dingers that looked like 3 to 4 meter waves. Now imagine how f@#king big those waves looked to the groms,,,,, huuuuuge. They faced 'em like champions. So they got smashed around, still, they went for it. Ahhh, to be 12 and 13 again and be introduced to kiting, what a life we could or would have had hey!!!

Cheers guys,

Robbie

^^^^^Thats why the gromms are so good up that way.
They are sh!t scared to fall in the water and body drag. The fishies up there have big teeth.

... pfffft, haven't seen a croc in ages,,,, mind you, they are masters at hiding til the last second!!

Tehehehe, I got of vid of one of our crew who went to catch one while on one of our kite/camping trip 30 miles west of Darwin, in real croc country.

Again, if you got some time to waste ,,,,,,it's abit long so I'll cut it down and throw it up on vimeo. Maybe get a laugh out of it.

He (the mate who give it a go) won't be happy,,,, ahhh what the hell, I'll worry about it when he finds out I put it here.............. he was 2001 NT Kickboxing champ so he could kick my arse, so sssshhhhhhh, don't tell him I'm gunna take the piss out of him!!!

... true story now! There wasn't enough wind for me to go kiting so I decided to give up a sh!t session and give my son a lesson and video him. While he was out all of a sudden he actually got going and drove the board right up the beach and let the kite crash on the beach.

I ran up to him to yell at him for treating the kite so rough.

He proceeded to tell me that he brushed up against a shark. Now being the good Dad I am, I told him to stop being a sook and get back out there.

"There's no shark there dude, com'on mate"

He wouldn't go back out.

While standing there saying there is no sharks, he pointed out to sea and said' "see, there it is"!!

"Nah, your seeing things dude"

As I look out to sea with my video camera, 3 fins pop up on the viewfinder.

"umm, thats not 3 little sharks dude, thats one big one", I say.

"I told you", he says!

It was a big shovel nose shark swimming up and down in the shallows chasing food.

So, he really did brush up against a shark. Maybe next time I'll listen to him.

"don't worry mate its harmless enough, winds dropped anyway, might as well pack up"!

Its like another time, while waiting for wind, a couple kites rigged on the beach, the son comes up while the adult were enjoying a beer or 3. "a plane landed on the beach", while he pointed downwind. Thinking him and his mate were taking the piss we fobbed them off, yeah yeah, a plane really landed on the beach!!!!. You know what, a cesna really did land (crash landed) on the beach just around the corner from us. It had engine trouble and had to ditch.

Hmmmm, the moral is, if the son comes up with a tall story, better check if its true first before I tell him to stopp making up stories!

I have had Lemons or Shovel noses rub up against me in water like that freaks the hell out of yay. If you could be calm you may be able to get a good foot pedicure off one :-)
