Gold Coast - Stop The Spit Sell-Off

Unfortunately I will be away and unable to attend as I would have liked to but I have already responded to the Survey and Partition and hope many of you will do the same to protect our scarce resource flatwater recreational sailing areas that has traditional been used by Windsurfers for over 40 years and Kiteboarders for well over 15 years there. Needless to say any High or Multi Storey Developments on the Main Spit Area are going to disturb the wind patens across the Broadwater forever! All protest groups I have talked to in the past are not against Development or Job Creation but are against Highrise Developments being designed, approved and constructed on land that was and has never been zoned for those types of Developments when there is an abundance of suitably zoned land all over the Gold Coast available. Once, one Multi Storey Highrise Development is approved to be built on the Main Beach Spit this will then open up a plethora of other Multi Storey Highrise Developments to be approved and built there along with many of the existing low level structure building will be bulldozed and redeveloped. The future will then be for a GREAT WALL OF 5 AND 6 STAR LUXURY HIGHRISE DEVELOPMENTS PITCHED AND AIMED AT THE WORLDS WEALTHY ELITE FOR THEIR EXCLUSIVE ENJOYMENT! Where these Building will overshadow vast currently open recreational areas and create dangerous wind eddies across the Broadwater as a hazard to all vessels and/or moored vessels. In addition to this due to increased extreme density to this area will leave no alternatives eventually to only access the area and beyond by public transport services or as some Bozos seem to think that a Water Taxi Service is the way to go? Imagine carting your Surfboards, Dog, Kiddies, Picnic Tables, BBQ, Fishing Gear, Dive Tanks on the Public Transport System and no doubt to offset these costs the 'Powers That Be' will charge you to park at a centralized location. In addition to this and it is something that no one has even began to talk or think about including the Local and State Government that there was reports tabled way back in 2012 if my memory serves me well that, in order to increase any more density in the Main Beach Area including the Main Beach Spit is that the whole of the Sewerage, Water and Stormwater infrastructure would need to be ripped up and re done to cater for the increased capacities, now guess who would have to foot the bill of Multi Millions to do that Mr Rate Payers? Things are also being hushed over about 'Significant Weather Events' could severely erode and compromise any areas to the complete Main Beach Spit Area and no doubt Mr Rate Payers of the Gold Coast you could bet your sweet bottom $'s who might have to foot the bill's to shore up that if the need arises along with the upkeep and dredging for any form of Cruise Ship Terminals. I could go on about exclusion zones around Shipping Terminals and Damming Pollution Evidence and how Cruise Shipping Companies in the past have just walked away from things but I am not going to go on to much further. If you have a heart, a mind of your own and can get the Big Picture as to how this Development and others planned or in the pipe line for the Main Beach Spit will destroy the Beautiful Vistas Across the Broadwater Bay Area, the fabric and essence of the Beautiful Main Beach Spit that was promised to be a Low Rise Only Development Area set aside for developments and use for 'The People Of The State Of Queensland for their Recreation, Entertainment and Enjoyment'. Not for a minority of Rich Waynkers to exploit our backyard playground and environment where it was set aside for Us and not their greedy lust for $'s at our Environment and Legacy for our Future Generations Expense, where there are so many other areas approved for them in the first place instead. If a Casino Licence is granted to them and they are not allowed to build on the Main Beach Spit does anyone think they will walk away, I don't think so, they will just go and build it some where they are allowed and a Cruise Ship Terminal for the Gold Coast where there is no Natural Harbour Suitable for it, when there is a Natural Harbour Facilitie an hours drive North is just plain dumb! Tom would be best of spending his energy on getting the M1 to Brisbane duplicated NOW! and stop all his grandiose exploitation of the last remaining pockets of green and open vista areas on the Gold Coast. Please stand up for what is right and have your say, time is running out, forever on this one!
