Neat - Thx.
Too hard to stay on a surfer 4 long - Would need some sort of proximity detector which the surfer was prepared to wear - then the copter could track this at a safe height.
Not a great location to try to compete with the shore based cameras - the break is fairly close - and it is easy to get a good shooting posi' from the cliffs.
My Brother has one of the cheepi (compared to this one!!) 'copters from WOW (I think) controlled by Iphone app' you just move phone in your hand and it flies that way - (luckily they all auto stabilise!!) - great fun - but more an indoor toy - limited endurance.
AP
how do they manage in 22 knots?
or do we need a slow flying drone type of thing, tacking across wind?
what about a remote control sealed waterproof boat, made of really really tuff perspex, 'paddling' in deep inside the surfer, and accepting the beating involved before popping up and scooting back out.
p.s. sorry about the use of the word 'need'. i should rephrase. but im not going to.
Ok well this post answers my questions........
I was lucky enough to surf Winki on the day of the finals and for about an hour there were only 6 people out. But I saw this thing buzzing around over the Bells bowl and wondered WTF.... now I know wht it was....![]()
