Sorry stamp i was wrong, but your still not right according to the World Heritage Nomination document prepared by the Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.......its nearly 300km long extending from Redbluff northwards into Exmouth Gulf. In my defense, I must of been thinking about driving it!!
coreyb.........14 in the water on what looks like a near perfect day...crowded?, how many were out in Scarbs yesterday?
Mind u i am impressed with those new Albi 9.5m SM ( Sub.....Marine) kites, i didn't realise the R&D had come so far, anyone would think those guys were surfing and not kiteing..........of course its busy in surfing season on a perfect day. Surfing is 120 years ( approx....don't want to be pulled up by stamp again) ahead of Kiteing.
So by around the 2131 Kiteing season you will expect to see as many Kiters in such a small area on the one wave. Hope i've retired by then.
images courtesy of jamiescottimages, so probably one of the best days of the year with some of the best surfers
i've been there twice. first time was years ago so nice and pristine. second time was last year, the place was feral....in saying that it was the biggest swell of the year.
There was poo and toilet paper everywhere in the bushes. People parking all over the vegitation. Not sure who's supposed to manage that but they seem to be sleeping.
I'll definately agree with the need for experience at tombies, saw a young lad who left part of his face on the reef. Can't even imagine how that you translate to a kite. It's also a fair swim out to the break and there was a strong current.
If your not really confident in dealing with 'when it all goes to crap' you definately should spend more time in other locations.
It also seems like every year they cram more and more people into the place. Definately not a place I'd stay
bah i can post the picts of the poo and toilet paper if you like. I took picts to show the kids I teach about the effects of humans on pristine areas.
