you can see the bottom so there is no doubt weed underneath the surface smoothing it out

IIRC from previous times, it's way north in canada and cold. Sluggish almost frozen water, combined with super dense cold air, big board, plus massive high aspect foil. Wind shear layer keeping the 6-8kts up off the water maybe?
