Having watched a bunch of videos from NZ and Ireland, I'm looking a gently shelving beach in WA on which to learn waveriding. The vids show a lines of small, breaking or peaking waves, with flat water inbetween. They look like just the right thing for a numpty like me who has learnt strapless but never surfed, so what to do with a board on a wave is a still a bit of a mystery. Apart from the formless windwaves at Woodies Pt in the howler yesterday (which was a hoot, BTW), Perth seems to be all dumpy beach breaks and reefy stuff that freaks me out. I bogged about at Middleton Beach in Albany last summer, and thought there may be somehwere near, or far, from there, where I could scratch this itch. Thanks.
Actually, forget it. I just realised that sounds like the perfect beach that no one would want to tell anyone publicly about. I'll get a map ...
I don't think there's a way to gently shelve an entire beach... But maybe start with one with fine grain sand, not one of those corally messes
You can always quickly shelve an entire beach (well at least it feels like it), by wiping out and landing arse first on the sand bar.
