Just wondering about leaving kite& gear in ya car whilst at work
Do you think the heat in ya car can affect your kite etc![]()
For the love of God, don't do that! Take your kite into work with you. Otherwise you will be up for $$$ in repairs
^^^^ had to replace all bladder connections on 2 kites after doing this, they were 2010 north EVO's...There are reports out there that some batches are more susceptible to heat damage than others.....as everyone has said just dont do it it will cost you time on the water, frustrating repairs and $$$
Bad. Very bad idea.

I always keep my kites in the car, have done so for 15 years. Haven't had a problem except for the 2007 slingshots, they were replaced under warranty. I have a plywood cover over the storage area in a station wagon and a white car, with a sunshade and windows cracked.

'Crack' in ur window is a good 'meth'od of keeping your 'gear' 'ice' cold.

Definitely better than hotboxing...

2007 Slingshot's! You don't mean the LINK. Surely you didn't get one of them repaired, better off out of the car and into the bin.

Actually it was the 2004 slingshot fuels, now I think harder about it. Haven't bought a slingshot since, amazing what one bad experience does for you (in fairness they were super good on the warranty but I never quite trusted it not to completely deflate mid session!)

Which is why I fly foil kites instead.

I still have one and it flies really well - after serious mods to the bridles of course.

yeah, I had heaps of trouble with my 04 Fuel, stressed for ages trying to sort it myself. Slingshot were great though, when I finally took it to them.
Welcome back Brian.
Yes the heat in the car can affect the glue on the valves.
They are glued on bladders much better now than the old slingshot fuel 2006 days but I would avoid leaving kites in hot cars if possible
yes, the heat can soften the glue of the valves, what could result in leaking valves.
there is glue on every stitched seam which is a bigger concern
I have never had a problem leaving my gear in my ute. But its in the canopy with heavily tinted windows. It doesn't get hot in there!
I have left my 2014 Core XR3 in the car while I'm at work since I've had it, haven't run into any troubles yet (knock on wood). Think maybe it only does damage to older kites?

believe it or not glue isnt a new technology. and its used in far more of the manufacturing process then just the valves. everyone should really watch some kite/sail/canopy manufacturing videos to at least get a vague idea on what really goes on..... infact maybe i should throw some links together...
