Can someone please give some advice on tuning my 13 m fuel. 2012
On the weekend i tried putting the steering lines on the closest knots to the kite and it flew like an absolute pig. It had no power and it dropped out the sky when i sheeted the bar in.
The kite seems to be under powered for its size on the settings that i use which is pretty much freestlyle settings on the end knots for all the lines.
If anyone has any ideas or advice it would be appreciated.
Ben
Hey dude, if you shorten the back lines too much the kite will stall.
Lots of people make the mistake of trying to power their kite up and they don't sit in the front of the window enough. Make sure all the lines are the same length and sit the kite at 12 and stay stationary. Pull the bar in and if the kite flies towards the trailing edge at all then depower the kite or lengthen the back lines.
The most effective way to fly kites is fast. They generate more lift (apparent wind) and fly a lot better. So build up some speed first and then edge harder.
I have seen guys cursing that a 13m is not power enough will I am on a 9m in boots. Technique is sometimes half the issue. The rest is set up.
Also you need enough wind for any kite to fly well
Hope this helps![]()
I've got a few 2012 fuels and they fly perfectly on the furthest knots from the kite on the steering lines.
Without trimming they barely have any wing tip flare when I pull the bar right in on this setting.
On c kites you never change this setting for different wind strengths, only if your lines are stretched.
Thank you for your responses.
Yeah that was the mistake i made for some stupid reason i shorterned the back lines as the condidtions where gusty and light and i thought it would give more power. I usually fly the kite on the furtherest knots and pull the bar in with out any stalling issues. ( Idiot thing to do before an amatuer freestyle comp ).
Looks like i need to work on my technique.
Thanks.
I find that If I use the wake setting the kite has more grunt when kiting too.
I don't know If this is supposed to happen or I'm just making crap ideas in my head.
Yep the wake setting makes it sit further back in the window for more powered unhooked tricks. Still fine to get up wind easy. It also seems to make the steering slightly less responsive to bar input.
I havent tried the kite on the wakestyle settings so ill give that a bash this arvo and see if it helps.
