The country's top kiteboarders will be offering free training sessions to introduce newcomers to the sport of kiteboarding during the Classic HolidaysNational Kiteboarding League (NKL), which is spanning across Australia and New Zealand between November 2015 and February 2016.

The ‘Have a Go’ sessions will be held at Round 2 of the NKL in Christchurch at The Estuary and New Brighton Beach, 10am – 11am daily from Thursday 19 November to Sunday 22 November.

Families, adults and kids can try kiteboarding along the beach, receiving instructions on how kiteboarding works, how they can continue their kiteboarding journey and learning how to get involved in a new outdoor activity.

President of Kiteboarding Queensland & Northern Territory Inc. (KBQNT) and NKL Event Director, David De Witt, said the new kiteboarding event series was about growing the profile of kiteboarding and showing people of all ages what a fun and inclusive sport it is.

“‘Have-a-Go’ sessions will be held each day at 10am throughout the Classic Holidays NKL series in every location to encourage locals to come down, learn about kiteboarding, and get a taste for the sport on trainer kites along the beach,” said Mr De Witt.

“There is no better way to learn than to be surrounded by the kiteboarding community who all love and share a passion for the sport.”

Ramy Filo, CEO of Classic Holidays, said their partnership with the NKL was based on promoting a healthy lifestyle and introducing the sport to new participants who had never tried or seen kiteboarding in action.

“The ‘Have a Go’ component of the National Kiteboarding League is a fantastic way to involve not only our Classic Holidays members, but the general public, in this fun and exciting sport,” said Mr Filo.

“It gives people on holidays or in their local town the opportunity to get outdoors, get active and create new memories.”
