hi Guys,

I am going to be in the Forster Tuncurry area in a few weeks. Has anyone done much kiting there?

Seems like a few good spots on Google maps.

Cheers

I have stayed at Boomerang Beach about 20 mins south of Foster on 2 occassions to kite,

Many times surfing

first time did not kite as there was no wind

and the second time kited Elizabeth Beach and Boomerang Beach

There are heaps of great stops there

long sandy beach from Bullpaddocks heading north towards Foster ,be great for a downwinder, think there might be a bus runs along the coast road there too, kite up or down and jump on the bus back

Good flat spot in Myall lake in a SW or Southernly, kite from the Sailing Club about 3 km north of the Rec club at Boomerang, not far from Bullpaddocks camping area

Smith Lake have great flatwater spots in SE or E winds

Around Foster /Tuncurry kite just north of the lake entrance in a NE or a bit futher north in a SE

And there is Old Bar further north of Foster, flatwater spot and open surf spot,Very good spot

Did not see any other kiters while I was there at Boomerang

And my mate who lives at Boomarang has never see anyone kite around the local beaches near his place

But Im sure there have been plenty of kiters passing though that have kited there form time to time

Great part of Oz,crystal clear water

I live in Forster and pretty much kite every time it blows. There's only 3 guys in town that kite as it's a retirement village. Boomerang can be fickle especially the northern end due to the headland and Elizabeth gets the nor'easter nicely but is a chop fest. Plenty of down wind opportunities, as mentioned 7 mile beach is our usual down winder and the car shuffle is easy - there's no banks on it at the moment but give it a few weeks and things might get better. 9 mile beach is our next down winder - from blackhead to Tuncurry breakwall. Drop us a line when ur in town the more the merrier.

My mum lives just outside of town so I'm up there occasionally...

I've heard the southern end of Wallis lake near pacific palms works in westerlys. I'll be heading up sometime in November - if it's windy i'll drop you guys pm.

How about Seal Rocks? Do the NE'ers work there? Is a DW possible from Elizabeth/boomerang to Seal?
Cheers

Best access is via a 4wd, short drive along river mouth and park meters from waters edge.
I think high tide is best from memory.
and a NE direction, but I think southerly works well too.

High tide is defo the best at muddies - because it's all bloody empty at low tide

Hey Suni.

I've dived at big and little seal a few times and there are heaps of sharks, but Grey Nurses. I've never seen anything to worry about. Have you tried kiting at Seal's? I know eveyrone say's there are heaps of sharks, but any more than anywhere else?

Ive dived around seal rocks too, only ever seen grey nurses. In fact its the largest colony on the East coast of Aus.

I reckon it would be a sweet spot in a NE, or around at treachery rocks in a SE.

Yeah there's been a few Tiger sightings around there and loads of bronzes around the area too.
