Since there has been some queries on backrolls how different are foreward rolls, how do you initiate and best way to land are they a good way to unwind the lines after a backroll?

If you check out you tube and search this forum you should find a few instructional clips to help you out. Some explain better than others, so watch a few different ones if you can.

The main difference is thatyou have to travel a bit further around than a back loop so you need slightly more power/lift.

Other than that - as long as you throw your shoulder into it as hard and fast as you can, and pull the kite up for a bit of lift you should get it - watching vids is excellent idea.

Tried my first one yesterday and nearly landed it!

They are slightly harder than backrolls as you have to change the rotational direction once you have air. With the same amount of power for when I land a backroll, I probably got about 3/4 of the way round.

Go to Aus kitesurfing school tips and tricks, and also the Best instructional vid on youtube. Plus the 100 others :)

Hey EB - if you can get the basics of body positioning sorted from the videos you will be almost there - the key for me personally in nailing front rolls was too send the kite slightly behind 12 - this actually makes it easier to get the spin going full circle - once you get past the information overload and realise where things are and perfect your technique you wont have to send it behind 12 anymore - obviously dont send it hard though or you may end up with more height than you require when learning a new trick.

Also I found having both hands on the centre of the bar or your front hand with centre line running between a couple of fingers and taking the back hand off stopped the kite from down looping
