I was wondering if anyone new of a product out there that you can attach to your current bindings that is like a rubber strap that can hook up over the back of your ankles. I don't really want to get into the whole wakeboard style boot but thought there might be something else out there. I'm having probs keeping my feet in my bindings when launching skywood. Any ideas would be appreciated.

a number of companies have heel straps that work pretty well, such as liquid force.

Although i know a number of guys who just use a cut up bike tube and screw it down under the strap

Just use old bike tyre inner tube-go to your local bike shop, they'll have heaps of old tubes. Cut it up and screw it to your board using the screws for straps. EASY.....

Worth looking at the LF comp straps which come with a heel strap. The advantage with these babies is you can tighten them down when your feet are in them using a lace style tightening system. Thats as close as you can get to bindings without going full bindings.

I use mountain bike inner tube as described above, for exactly the reasons you describe. My naish straps don't seem to adhere to my feet well, so the heel strap is a necessity when boosting etc. works brilliantly, and the tension is just right. The board will still come off your feet if you stack it hard, because the inner tube stretches enough.

Loco/Niel ..... Cheers. I have been getting crapped off with bouncing out of my straps when powered in chop and reluctant to fork out for new ones as mine are in perfect nick and fit .... just not quite right though.... but bike tubes ..... brilliant

Will tell you how I go

Skyhook and Marty - What brand of board/straps do you have? A set of good quality straps should hold your feet in fine, unless you've got bizarre shaped feet

Cabrihna .... it's not that they don't fit well ... as when adjusted right they do but ...

The elastic is strong and for me to be able to kick my foot in I have to have them loose(ish) but once riding and settled in they feel very loose... but if I adjust them to feel right when I ride they are too much of a pain in the arse to get my feet in. I have found the 'balanced' adjustment but when I hit the chop sometimes the whole show blows apart .... I will try the inner tubes .... and if they work GREAT ... and if they dont, I will seek new bindings.

Happy Days

it will work. just cut the length right so that they can loop around your ankles with just a little bit of tension. all it needs to do is keep your foot forward in the strap, you will have no problems ever again. best of all, they cost virtually nothing and last for ages. I'm still on my first set after 6 months of kiting with them!

Same broblem here I use a Naish board and the straps just do not work I got myself a paire of Mystic heal straps from memory I think thay cost about the $30.00 mark I tried bike tubes but found they would rip where the screws went in got sick of changing them. I have had the Mystic ones for about a year now and had no trouble.

The Liquid Force comp Strap is great. Adjusts quickly to fit perfectly. We retail them for $149 pair.
We have fitted them to many boards without a problem.
However a cheaper solution is the DaKine Raptor Heelstrap. One of our team riders has had a proto pair for 2 years and they are still in perfect condition, work great, release on the bad wipe outs & hold tight when you need them to. They have not stretched or broken in over 2 years of use. You can see and read up on them www.dakine.com we retail them for $24.95 pair.
Also check out www.kitesurfgoldcoast.com so you can order them online.
Pm us if you have any questions.
