Surfboard with a foil.. should we call it Foilsurfing? I will, as soon as I get enough practice to play in big waves. For now let's call it Hydrofoil Kitesurfing, Foilboarding, whatever !!!

Self-shot on GoPro cameras in late December 2013. The idea behind was to record the learning process so my mates could see the potential. The predecessor, Foil One, was no more than a record of splashes. More of the experience can be found on Hydrofoil Dreaming - kitesurfing.com.au/?p=3552

Perhaps I could have learnt a bit faster but without instruction or someone to copy / discuss it had to be a on-the-seat-of-my-pants learning from mistakes. Maybe I could have gone a little faster with a boat or Jetski and a nice flat water spot. 3-4 flat sessions was all I got as the wind direction wasn't right for Currumbin Alley. But there's something to be said about 'throwing' yourself into waves and dealing with kite variables . Most of that is behind, smooth sailing ahead so to speak - but waves is the goal.

Special mention goes out to Nicholas Leason from Mhl Custom for their workmanship and attention to my requests for the custom surfboard. R&D continues at their end, I can't wait for the new Foil I hear is being finished so I can 'test it' for them eheh...
? at 4th Ave Palm Beach.

Update: I got a few questions about how the surfboard behaves without the foil .. man, it goes upwind much better than any of my other boards (LF Joystick 6' and Naish Gun 6'1), also it is very stable but manouverable at same time, super light weight. Complete with the foil it is 7.4 kgs, without it is very light, double Kevlar Mesh, custom paintjob.

Am I a poster boy for MHL Custom products? Just like any very satisfied customer I am happy to promote those who deserve it. But I have nothing to do with the company, I'm just a customer.

Nice review and videos. Did you end up selling the repaired board ?
Cheers, Brett.

Tks mate. The other board went to Sydney to a mate of mine.. he's going through 'the process' eheheh.

Loving this one. Incidentally it may go up for sale as well as MHL is about to release the new model so I might upgrade depending on what it is like.
