I live on the Gold Coast and have heard that Firewire are selling their first generation kite boards for $500 at their up and coming sale at the end of August. They have a bunch in the "blem rack" and when asked why they were blems they just said it was because it was the first lot that they made and since have made a considerable amount of improvements and didn't want to sell them at retail????
I reckon $500 is better than the $1000 price tag they normally carry?
Anyone have any information about these boards?
Would they be worth it?
Any advice would help........
just a thought but why don't you do a websearch and contact them?
Or was it just a free plug for Firewire?

I think you answered your own question, they weren't that good, so they made some improvements.
Ahh yes they were that good, I have had 2 for 9 months. Problem is though that the decks were de-laminating at the heel, particularly around the front foot.
Firewire have replaced the faulty board - no problem.
The new board is a little heavier due to the beefed up deck.
also my friend had problems with board. at the moments I dont see anyone riding theme anymore here in WA.
Get somthing solid like a Naish Kitesurfboard
Just get a custom... That way you can get a board that is actually built for you and it will still cost you less than overpriced crap technology.
Mine has delamenated at the front foot too, so you may want to avoid the first generation boards as they probably wont be warranteed, just like the cheap blemished surfboards they sell.
I broke mine second time out. Was good for one and a half sessions though... Bout a hundred bucks an hour... Bargain...
I just finishing fixing a whole delam on a deck today, problem is they spray a pretty white paint over the high tech space foam which the glass doesnt like sticking too, add that with the constant standup pressure from kiting just makes it worse...Having said that they are on the right track with the kite board.
Potentiality the bamboo deck model will distribute deck pressure better although it will dent...I personally dont mind indentation gives more grip.. I have had several custom eps boards and love em but they dont last as long as...ie Naish, boards...For me mass produced kiteboards are too stiff and feel like tow boards..But heaps of guys like em Aye. Hopefully in the near future we will have custom construction with very little negatives.. ..so eat balls.
