Qantas had a deal we couldnt refuse - kids fly stay and eat for $99 so we are staying at the Shangri la - end of July
Images on Google earth show a large break in the reef and also some pictures of surf on either side of the passage.
Has anyone kited or surfed in these parts - I understand I can travel to near breaks etc also.
cheers
lance
Hi Lance, Can't answer your question sorry, but have booked the exact same holiday for August - so any feedback would be great. Cheers, Bart
I second a vacation review section - with tags like backpackers, family etc...
Im at the Shangri-la right now - wind wasnt that flash today but ample places to launch in the bay with sandy beaches, coral out front looks a bit dodgy on anything but a high tide but the gap in the reef and the reef to the south both look to offer some waves, plus you can kite along the reef at the main beach on the channel side, although while sailing a catameran with the family today we saw a pretty decent sea snake and the youngest wasnt too happy :|
Going to head to Sigatoka to get some wind and waves over the coming days and will let you know what its like.
The resort is pretty good, happy with it so far, family is very happy too, great diving, snorkeling, and all the other usual stuff you get to do at resorts!
Heading to the Naviti resort in mid september, managed a great all inclusive family deal. Hopefully will time the wind and the tides.
Baz.
good winds today - kited from other side of lagoon... not bad - Sigatoka tomorrow - the waves on the west side of the lagoon look pretty good - nice right hander - guys say they have seen people surf...
beautiful water, and super consistent wind, if it was more southerly the base of the lagoon would be awesome as there would be some very flat water in there!
