Off to Plantation island in Fiji soon. I searched past topics but there is not much on the best kitesurfing around plantation. Anyone able to fill me in?
I heard there is a sandbar out the front for flat water. Are there any good wave spots close by?
Also I heard that the restrictions on Cloudbreak (i.e. pay $400 a day or get booted) have been lifted by the Fijian government. Has anyone been since (apart from Ben Wilson on an 11m day)? Is it a total mosh?
Yeah as far as i have heard all go at Cloudbreak.Going to plantation on the 2nd August. When are you?
luck bastards! I would be keen to know how you find the resort for kids and kiting when you get back
Bennie: I'll let you know too!
SBD: I'm going on Saturday (16th July) for a week. PM me when I get back if you want me to answer any specific qs.
JW: Namotu looks awesome - do they allow daytrippers?
Went there about 9 years ago and took my gear. No trades while I was there but had some winds from the NW, only got 1 kite in out the front of the resort.
The resort is sheltered from the trades so you either need to get a boat to the sandbar to kite or take a walk to the SW corner of the island. Not sure what it is like off the tip - but SHQ in Vic used to take kite trips there years ago.
Would love to get to Namotu one day.
