THE PERTH FREEBORD REPRESENT EVENT IS GOING DOWN.
It's going to be a great event for anyone. Even if you don't freebord, come down, check it out, and try out the board.
Anyone wondering what freebord is, check out this video.
wish it wasn't so flat here ![]()
$AU290 delivered http://www.iboardaustralia.com/show/street-freebord-completes
pretty reasonable
Boards are $290 at the moment but you better be fast, they're heading up again due to the dollar.
The ride is for anyone, definitely come down and give it a go.
****ing sweet only problem is that bitumen is 1,000,000,000 times harder and more abrasive on your skin than snow... im gonna sit this one out
I could almost give up my blades for one of these. Not enough hills around here though![]()
Shown the missus though...Xmas*cough* B'day*cough*!
Looks fun, Is fun, damn fun... but with fun comes danger. to answer multiple Qs at once.
Wheels dont flat spot easily, they are fairly soft but seeing as your sliding around quite a lot all sides get an even amount of burnage.
I got mine from SOS around a year ago for $400, went riding without a helmet down a bomber hill and ended up with a Subdural Heamorrhage...a blood clot with 20% chance of survival...As Hawaii said bitumen is super hard...my fauly i guess for not wearing a lid.
No you cant take the trolley wheels off to use as a skatey. 2 reasons, firstly you cant remove the 'trucks' if you can call them that for the middle wheels so when you carve, you literally carve the inside trucks. Secondly cause you're strapped in with skyhooks, getting out whilst moving is massively hard (with the castor wheels you can just slide and brake). I tried it and the trucks are 3 times the length of normal ones and bearings are like abec23's so you slam hard.
Go to the show though, its super fun if you're a snowboarder and want something to do when powder is slushy. (For perth riders check out 'Intangible Delusions' on youtube)
P.S. Just sold my Freebord on here for $250 inc postage!!
Like all board sports, good safety equipment is a must. Helmet, good kevlar or similar gloves and long clothing like jeans and jumpers and elbow pads if you are going seriously down hill. Start on a small slope, work your way up to bigger slopes. The back area of shopping centres after hours with the loading ramps and stuff are great to practise on.
You can remove the casters if you want to, but it is a bit of a mission and really not what the board is designed for. Once you try it and get the hang of it, you wont want to go back.
Have Fun!

i have second hand one for sale in melbourne if anyone is keen, pickup only! (i cant be arsed to send it)
see my photos.
So how hard is it to learn to Freebord ?
Much different to rolling a big hill on a longboard ?
Looks fun.. keen as to try it..
ok, well I hardened up and bought one of these bad boys and it arrived today ![]()
And yes, at first it is quite tricky and scary, but having said that I have already learnt to carve, slide and stop after roughly 30mins of riding and I have never snowboarded. I think if your a snowboarder you'll pick it up quicker but not by a long way.
And no Geoff its nothing like long boarding down a hill unless your long board can go down a hill at 90 degrees?
These things are soo much fun! Getting up early tomorrow to ride again ![]()
