I was talking with a friend and he was saying he moves his foot (mainly heal) from side to side depending on the direction he is travelling on a TT. When i ride i put my foot in the strap and it stays in the same position the whole time (a bit like riding with boots). So what is the right way and what do other people do?
I don't think there is a correct way of doing it, just personal preference.
For me I have my straps super tight so my foot doesn't come out.
My back foot is usually more straight across the board than my front foot... Like my feet are at 5 to 2 or 5 past ten.
Yeh - I move back foot heel back a bit when going upwind
have tried super tight super loose and everything in between.
Pretty much whatever I do I'll have a foot pop out occasionally when landing fast and hard
was following a thread about unhooked tricks and someone said to try waxing the pads - not sure whether they were taking the p*ss ![]()
Each to their own and whatever works for you is best. But, if you're still in the learning phrase try different things so you actually know what does work.
I tend to angle the heel of my back foot towards the rear of the board so I drive my weight through the the edge of the board that's deepest in the water, especially driving upwind. Also if I'm trying to squeeze every inch of upwind I'll also do the opposite with my front foot, almost trying to twist the board with my feet.
Good to know people do different things. I was worried i was a weirdo
like wearing boardies over ya wetti ![]()
How Bizarre....I was just considering posting about a similar situation myself today after returning from Altona.....
My issue is a little odd...I have 2 boards...an used both today at different points.
I seem to move my heel when boarding but its ALWAYS the right foot that becomes loose in the straps and I always feel the right pad isnt angled sufficiently towards the end of the board....This is on two different boards with different strap sets...I cant angle them any further and I cant get them any tighter lol...Maybe I just have an ODD foot...I always thought the Cabrinha sync pads would hold my feet in better but alas no.
Having said that..I had a brilliant day today at Altona.....got my son Planing and I logged 35km on the GPS.
I am going to have to try a couple more different boards I think :-)
