Wondering if anyone has tried the Firewire kiteboard range?
I'm keen to get a board that you can surf (without kite) and kitesurf, like the one board fits all travel quiver. The Firewires sound like the go.
If anyone has tried them, I'd be keen to get your views.
I'm 85Kg's, 6'0, been surfing for all my life (39yrs), been kiting for 5-6 yrs, standard all rounder is a fiberglass 6'0 x 18' 3/4 x 2'5/16, surf/kitesurf.
Questions are:
Will the 5'11 Firewire be to small for me (for surf)?
Will the 6'2 be to buoyant fo kiting?
I'd demo one if I could, but I'm stuck on an Island and its not an option, please help before I fork out 9 hung on something that may not work!
I am about 75kg and ride a 6'0 Alternator I have also had a go on the 5'11 kiteboard and its the best board I have ever ridden! At 85kg the 5'11 would be too small for you to paddle so if you just want 1 board go for the 6'2, you'll love it!

Wider but thinner than the 6'2.

I have tried the 6'2 quad and liked it both as a surfboard and kite board I now have a 6'0 alternator. the alternator is to small for me to surf but kites great.
I'm pretty stoked with it as a kite board
i kite with a standard 6,4 surfboard which i surf with all the time it cots me $600 i get a good life it .i have had a rawson 6,1 but found it not as good as a normal board . save the $300 for a new board every year.

The 6'2 is 18'1/2 x 2'1/2 thruster squash tail
The 6'0 is 19'1/8 x 2'1/4 quad swallow tail
I'm positive I can ride both as a surfboard but what would be the better kiteboard?
Depends on your style and the conditions you ride most of the time. Personally I think 6'0 quad in small stuff or 6'2 for all round

I am about 80+kgs and I have the 5'11, it is a sick kiteboard and also has enough float to double up as a surfboard. If your standard surfboard is a 6'0 the extra buoyancy in the epoxy 5'11 should be similar to what your used to. The 6'0 kiteboard is stupidly wide for some bizarre reason, and the 6'2 is basically a boat.
I reckon I've finally got it sussed. I'm 80kg. 6' for kiting and 6'4" for surfing. I can kite & surf 6'4" if I have to, but can't kite & surf 6'. Better off with 2 boards than 2 kites.

I just wish I was 75Kgs instead of 85, then I could use the 5'11 as an all-rounder.
Sounds like the 6'2 might be a bit buoyant for kitesurfing? I'm mostly riding reef breaks but also injoy riding flat water on a TT. I might have to travel with a 2 board quivver, one for surf and a 5'11 Firewire for kiting????? I'm still tempted by the 6'2, but I've got a good quiver for surfing so I might go with the 5'11 kitesurf.
Any more advise, I wouldn't knock it back.

Probably best to go the 5'11 kite board and have a seperate board for surfing then mate. You must be able to surf pretty good, so I reckon you would fine the bigger firewires too mundane.
