Exmouth September 2014

Hi
Thinking about taking the family up to Exmouth sometime mid to late Sept. Family = partner and 5yo son.

Looking for kite buddies anyone interested in meeting up?
If your thinking of going up there with kids, camp nearby so kids can amuse each other, I.E. more uninterrupted kiting time.

Ive been told Tamala Stn is a good place to camp but open to suggestions.

you do realise Tamala station is 6 or 700km from Exmouth.

What is the sugggestion for wave riding spots in Exmouth. Heading there late august/ september for a fly fishing trip and by the sound of things we might as well take our kites since strong wind and fly fishing dont go together to well :-)

Tamala Station is still a bit of a long boring slog to Monkey Mia, if that's your goal. We stayed in Denham earlier this year. Although it is a town, it still feels remote. Emus wandering down the streets.. that sort of thing. It is small and beautiful. My husband kited straight off the beach by Denham Seaside Tourist Village (also known as Shark Bay Fun) and Little Lagoon down the road would have been great if the wind were on.

Tamala Station is a really nice spot.
Kiting there is a bit of a mission lots of rocky country and rocky under foot in the water, so launching and landing is a mission as there isn't too many launching beaches.
We took a jet ski and did alot of exploring so found some goodness, The wind however is ballistic.
If you like flat water and exploring with a boat, its the goods. Did I mention its rocky.....just like the stone fish.
The fishing was crap when we were there!

Hi Sylk, we went up to Exmouth last year Sept / Oct school Hols.. Stayed at Yardie Creek Homestead Caravan Park... At that time the place is filthy with kids and kiters .. Good flat water at Sandy bay and a few waves around as well... Kids loved snorkeling at Turquoise Bay .

Not exactly roughing it as the caravan park has powered sites and has swimming pool , kitchen , shop , etc .. But kids and wives happy were happy and we were freed up to go kiting .....good times all round !!

We doing the same thing this year ..

heading up early Sept to avoid the families and children!
Ningaloo station for me, fancy something different
