We have been organising an exclusive surfing club here in Perth WA. The boat is going to be skippered by a surfer who knows the optium conditions to get the best waves offshore from Perth.
We are looking to go our perhaps 25 times a year and the call will always be made a couple of days out – we don’t need to many crew as we don’t want to take a crowd.
The candidates will need to be competent surfers, have some flexibility in their work schedule and be able to make an investment for the year.
Now before you tell me to post this in the surfing forum – I am a kite surfer who has surfed all his life so I am going to give priority to crew from a similar background.
We also might be able to get some kiting in latter on as well.
PM me if you would like more info.
First trip - fantastic waves - had a great sessions on a left hander and then went and had an excellent sessions on a right hander. - impressed by the quality.
Not many times I have done this in my surfing days. - swapping from a left to a right - the wavers where not that disimalar to , which was bizare.
Second Trip - just a bit to small - and wasn't firing - but still caught a few.
outer reefs in Perth are so cool, if you know where to go. How about some piccy's next time IOZ? Show the trollers what they're never going to experience.![]()
We might need an even bigger boat to get to that wave, and would need to tow a jet ski over as well - perhaps next year ......
By the way - did he make it ?
Thats Kerby Brown charging on the south coast. No he didnt make it & got a servere beating!! I think the ride won him an award however. Props to him, he certainly has some big balls and is probably considered the best goofy at Tombstones.
BTW Ioz great to hear your boat thing is reaping rewards. It certainly does pay to have a boat in Perth. I dont think a great idea to post piccies tho (i think you already agree)...there are alot of guys out there that can tell what spot is where within a second or two of analyzing a photo - you may as well just post the gps co-ords!
There are no secret spots anymore ![]()
Enjoy the boating!! ![]()

I agree it wouldn't be wise to publish photo's of the waves you are talking about Ioz, however the guys that would instantly recognise the locations are the ones that have already been there anyway.
The location above is a bit less accessible and consistent as most serious WA surfers would know, I don't think it will draw big crowds, and mother nature will ensure that numbers are kept low by natural attrition. ![]()
Well that's in the master plan Fooosh,
First we do some surfing and then gradually we talk to the skipper about great sessions kite boarding, get him interested, give him a kite -
get him hooked and then he will be skoping out spots we can go wave kite off shore from Perth.
Mission should be accompished by the time the seabreezes come back in Sept / October.
He's a bit of a water man - he'll be a push over.
