End of an Era for HADLOW by Flexifoil

End Of An Era For Hadlow by Flexifoil
by Anthony Van Dort and Aaron Hadlow

Flexifoil was founded in 1972 when made famous by the Stacker 6 power kite which still to this day holds the record for the fastest kite. In 2001, Aaron Hadlow teamed up with Flexifoil to develop our first water kite which was the starting block of kites which would eventually power Aaron on to winning five consecutive world titles. In 2009, Flexifoil and Aaron teamed up to create the first Hadlow signature water kite and by 2013, Hadlow products populated half of the Flexifoil water kite product range.

It is with a heavy heart that Flexifoil has made the decision to focus on one brand rather than two and thus it is now time for Aaron and Flexifoil to venture forth on their separate paths. Flexifoil is going to move forward focussing on its core land & water kiting products as well as introducing some exciting new offerings and Aaron will continue to focus on his vision of developing the ultimate equipment to help both himself and others push the limits of the sport.

We would both like to thank each and every customer who has believed and invested in our products over the years and to reassure you that all water kite spare parts and accessories will continue to be supported so your existing purchases remain unaffected. Hadlow kites and boards are now available directly from Flexifoil.com while stocks last.

Aaron, ?I would like to thank Flexifoil for all their support over the years, it has been a long journey and it is sad to leave the family but I am happy with the experience I have gained and the achievements I have won with their help. It has truly been a memorable stage in my life?

To follow Aaron?s progress and what is next in store for HADLOW take a look at www.aaronhadlow.com, alternatively follow him on Facebook.com/AaronHadlowOfficialPage and Twitter @aaronhadlow

Anthony, ?I would like to thank Aaron for his unwavering commitment, determination and contribution over the years. Our business relationship has now come to a conclusion but we remain great friends and the Van Dort family and I are honoured to have shared so many good and fun times with Aaron?

Keep track of Flexifoil?s developments at www.flexifoil.com, buy online at shop.flexifoil.com or follow on Facebook.com/Flexifoilkites

Thank you for choosing Flexifoil and Hadlow

Speculation will be rife on this move. I heard the rumours of Hadlow x North Kiteboarding also. Is he going to ride a Vegas? or will he release a signiture series? Who knows but it will make for interesting gossip!

Flexi will continue , they have a huge following in the uk, they've been around long before hadlow, lflexifoil also have a huge following of land boarders , sure it'll hit them but replace him with another high profile rider and it's business as usual, Kevin langree maybe

Kevin who?

I meant that the only water kites and gear they had worth buying was the hadlow range, you don't see any of their other gear around very often. I know they got a big land kiting base but in terms of kitesurfing/boarding i'm not sure if this is going to work in their favour.

I agree charl, not here maybe but os they are very popular, just because some sheep don't follow the flock doesn't make them a bad kite, so what didn't you like about the rest of the range if you have ridden them

They weren't c kites or performance freestyle SLE's... to be honest as good as they are i would not purchase a hadlow because i don't like the idea of a signature kite, it seems a bit cheesy. If it just had a nice name it would appeal more. The rest of their range seems like it's more for cruising and general freeriding, I never see that side marketed or advertised with video or images nearly as much as I saw the hadlow branding. Maybe they'll keep the HP and ID in their line just renamed?

Where is the proof ?

Not according to this ...

kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2367555

And according to this, the world record is for "a kite" (no brand given) that clocked over 190km/h.

www.kite-festival.org.uk/more-info/kite-records-and-trivia

Well lets look at the official statement ...

www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records-9000/fastest-speed-kite-surfing-by-a-man/

Ahh Rob comes up again!

The only mention of anything Flexifoil did was this ...

"Fastest kite ? measured speed: 120 mph ? 193 kph. On 22 September 1989 Pete DiGiacomo flew a modified
10ft Flexifoil at Maryland, USA. Readings were taken by a local police officer with a radar gun"

www.kites.co.nz/pdffiles/World%20kite%20records.pdf

Nothing said about what kite it was. Could have been the Stacker 6, but then again it's not an official GBOWR feat. A local cop took the reading.

Here is the first interview with Arron since the split

kitesista.com/kitesista-meets-the-aaron-hadlow-interview/

Lets hope Arron can fulfil his goals with North if this is where he has gone.
A huge opportunity for North to improve their products, hope they run with it.
