Hi Guys,

Planning a trip to soma bay/surfaga in August and was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the spots and clubs.

How does the 7bft spot compare to surfmotion, I heard the water level at surfmotion may be a problem?

Il be staying at the movenpick hotel, is there tuk tuks that can take you to 7bft and surfmotion from movenpick hotel?

Do you recommend the half board or full inclusive option?

If I pay for the kite launch/ beach usage at for example surfmotion and kite up to 7bft to have lunch or something do the guys have a problem with that?
Can you kite out to the tobia island? id like to do some snorkelling and diving while im there

Thanks in advance!

I can recommend 'Tornado Surf' soma bay ... if you prefer a more friendly, small and well organised operation ... 7 bft is your typical mass market kite station.
enjoy , its always windy

I was at soma bay last September, stayed at the Westin and kited at 7bft kite house. Found the place really nice the facilities are decent, rescue boats always ready to grab you if you crash/need rescue as the wind is mostly offshore/side offshore and can be tricky for inexperienced riders. They have a variety of core gear for hire or purchase and a cafe for food and drinks. Soma bay is all connected so there's a shuttle bus that takes you to and from your hotel runs every 30 mins I think. Otherwise you'll find golf carts that drive by the beach which you can flag down for a ride, all transfers are free so long as you're staying at any hotel in soma bay. Haven't been to the island but I hear it's a nice experience. 7bft is definitely the preferred kite centre in soma bay and you'll find pretty much all kiters go there.

We had the all inclusive package and ended up having lunch at the beach most days (our hotel wasn't on the beach but had its own stretch with a dedicated restaurant) it was nice to have a break from kiting during lunch time when the tide was low. To note though there aren't many restaurants apart from ones in the hotels and the kite houses so we found it was easier knowing all our meals were covered but that's a personal preference.

All in all it was definitely a nice trip with some of the friendliest people in soma bay.

Ps we also did some snorkelling which was fantastic! Something the Red Sea is know for. Enjoy
