Does anybody know what is going on with the WAKSA long downwinder this weekend??? It was postponed from the original date of Oc.t 28 to Nov. 18....i think, but i haven't heard much about it yet.
The forecast is looking sketchy at the moment but i really, really, really hope if happens.
Hi sanamarco and others,
You're as lost as we are - with such a dodgy forecast we can't make up our minds what to do.
The current Thursday 4:30pm forecast is:
Sunday: S/SW winds 15/20 knots, easing to 10/15 knots in the afternoon
This means the morning could be possible yet who knows if/when it will back off which could result in tens of kiters dotted along the coast needing to be picked up - could get logistically very messy.
If people can please feel free to post their opinions that would be great, and we'll try to make a call tomorrow afternoon/evening.
For those who don't have internet once they leave work on Friday you can call Jess on 0408 656 538 on Saturday to find out if it's on.
Thanks for all your support everyone,
WAKSA
I'm keen as long as it consistently above 15 knots, but then again we dont want people rigging the wrong sized kites if it is going to drop off(kitecrazzzy)
,
Thanks
Matt
Well the forecast isn't looking the best right now but i would still really like to give it a shot. The forecast hasn't been spot on the last few days so i'm thinking its going to be better than what is predicted ![]()
Hi Everyone,
WAKSA has decided not to run the Long Downwinder on Sunday 18th November. We will look for a date to run it in the New Year.
We really want this to be an enjoyable and memorable event - good solid seabreeze, warm weather, lots of time and no pressure.
Keep your fingers crossed for Saturday 15th December when there is a Leighton to Swanbourne Downwinder followed by the Christmas party at the Swanbourne SLSC.
And of course KiteJam is only 2 or 3 weeks away - KiteJam is a no pressure, have fun, give-it-a-shot style freestyle gathering on 1st or 8th December so that's the next one to look forwards to for now! Visit www.kitejam.org
Thank you for your support,
Your WAKSA Crew
*&%$!! $%#@!! *&*^*!!!
Well I am glad i got that off my chest.
Here is an idea.. can we secretly plan the next date but not tell the weather gods so as to ensure kiteable conditions (as it has been for nearly every day this week)?
Oh well... roll on the 15th Dec.
