Lots of enquiries at the shop about car shuffles for daily local downwinders.
I am starting a "whatsapp" group for those whose mates dont knock off at the same time (or for those who havent got any )
With new shop hrs - KSS Scarbs is now going 7 Days (+ late Thursday) but we will be closing at 4:00 when theres wind - I plan on sending a "whatsapp" message to a downwinder group for a 4:30 meeting at Trigg 2nd carpark or City Beach.
Once the group is formed any group member can post messages to the whole group for any other meeting time as well.
Very cool & very appro app
Message me on 0430 966 397 if you want in.

Must have a smart phone but I think the app may link across brands (not sure on that yet though)

WOW
No replies here on the post but heaps of calls & messages. ???
Looks like the Kite Surf SUP 'Whatsapp' City to Trigg plan will be a goer.

Thinking that I may limit the group to WAKSA members only.
Only because I really dont think I would cope very well knowing someone I had come to know as a regular kiting mate had lost his house, or was struggling on 2/3rds of his wage packet for years, to pay my medical bills &/or living expenses just because of some accident that could happen to anyone anytime.

The recent hyke in WAKSA fees (still a paltry $125) is the direct result of several AKSA/WAKSA members having their tags intact at the time they took out other kiters or Joe Publics. No loss of income at all.

Yes waksa membership is a must having no financial responsibility when you injure or cause damage is gold in the bank.

Im no stranger to Red Thumbs and its of little consequence (I rarely even take note)
BUT on both of my posts?? on this topic ??? designed only to make convenient kiting more accessible ????????
Surely this thread either doesnt relate to you at all
OR
its of possible interest/benefit to you.
Someone pls explain the red thumbs.

Mate, you know how it is in societies-there's always a few who just don't know how be be sociable. Ignore the fools. What a great gesture that you extended the offer. If they don't like your chosen conditions of use then they surely can make their own arrangements.

I have been on this forum for a while and am sad to see how the quality of topic has degenerated and I believe it's due to the attitude of a certain few not the majority.

With overcrowding becoming more and more of an issue, at least you know that the people have done their research and bothered to show up at the beach.

If you need an app to tell you when it is on, you don't deserve to be on that beach, and of course, it happens to be my local so I am not looking forward to your 39 buddies rocking uptogether for a downwinder.

Am I selfish?, probably, do I care?

Possibly an indication of how many there are willing to take from the sport without putting back in through simple things like WAKSA membership...

Another view is that if the group is organised, they can self regulate their behaviour - have a code of conduct they all follow, instead of individual groups acting independantly. Also a large group can self regulate crew not in the group who do not respect the fact that kiting could easily be banned/areas desigated (more like it) with only one major incident involving the public. 10's of Thousands of downwinders, only takes one incident for the media hounds to get their teeth in.

Or they rock up independantly...they will still be there. At least they will pass as one, rather than in dribs and drabs. With that scary look on their face from the 80% kooks, sh1tting themselves as they hurtle towards you. You can keep ya local.

that 6km segment of the over 100km Perth beach is already ridiculously overcrowded with guys who should be on some more forgiving segment of beaches. There are some waves on the way which most riders have now idea what to do with... it's just because XYZ's mate did or organized it, so the rest do it...
So... can you organize it, please, somewhere else...?
It's kind of boring to see more and more petrified beginners facing a break enjoying the adrenal rush of a life-threatening thrill, not realizing they are annoyingly in the way of those who'd like to have some fun ...

1) More kiters in the area - maybe - but I doubt it.
Idea was just to make the downwinder more accessible for those going there anyhow.
2) Same no. spreadout over 6kms has to be better than hoards fighting the pack as they in & out from their single launch point.
3) It wont be a huge hoard at any one time.
With this 'whatsapp' group anyone can send an sms round the whole group advising of any time you are hoping to find at least one other local to make the car shuffle.

Another great idea we may go with:
So you dont have to arrange to leave at the same.
If everyone in the group has a card on the dashboard identifying that the car is in the shuffle then you could come in anytime and look for a car with a card. That way if you link up with someone for a 2:30 start, but your buddy for the day can only stay out till 4:00, you can take your time and find another later shuffler to get u back.
