Hey does anyone kite surf nairns in mandurah?
Im a beginner from mandurah and wondering if
it is suitable and what winds?
Sleepy Nairns is nice and quiet and is truly old-school Mandurah ...
but the prevailing sea breeze is directly onshore.
The wind at Kite Beach on the Estuary near the Dawesville Channel is straight sideshore.
That's the best direction to learn in.
Both spots offer acres and acres of smooth flatwater.
So would it be ok on strong easterly?
Kite beach it is then.
I tryed out front of seashells resort out sde the marina but I think there
is too much built up around that area.
Cheers
Its my local ![]()
or was until I broke my foot last year (Kiting not at my local) ![]()
Nice shallow and sandy at the river mouth. (this end is nice to learn in... not very crabby and you get blown back to the beach - walk o shame is in the water so a bit safer.)
Very flat water courtesy of the weed bank towards the north western end of the beach.
When my foot works again... you'll see me down there (assuming my wife lets me after being out of work for the last 9 months) ![]()
SICK, SICK flat water in a seabreeze, dead onsnshore, and due to this pinch of heat we are having, I wouldn't be swallowing too much of the water as the area is not flushed that well and some algae evils might want you to think you've just got back from a Bali sewer drain surfing expo
The Kite spot at the cut is a great place to progress.
Just watch the set up area as it can get very crowded. Ask for help where to set up
And launch over the water ... enjoy ......
So i tried out nairns on sunday, pretty fun.
there was 2 other kiters out there I think the were learning as well.
But unfortunately my slingshot rpm created a rip about 500mm
long front to back, is this something that can get fixed?
Preferably close to mandurah
FYI fixed kite got back out yesterday and found out
why people kite surf would have to rate it as
one of my best sporting experiences, will be back out this arvo,
I'm hooked
