Someone else said it, but i agree. I hate extraneous ****...pulleys and overly complicated bridles and seventeen release hook/handle/cheese-grater things. More **** there is, more things to go wrong.

Simple is better. Like me.

When the new season kites arrive on the beach and all of a sudden your still crinkly kite doesn't look as awesome as it used to... damn you Sigma shape, damn you to hell...

Oh, and those people who suddenly seem to have degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and are able to overanalyse everything until its not fun anymore...

I Dislike.....

Experienced kiters who should know better than jump (AKA Showing Off!!) close to shore, launch in an area that isn't setting a good example to newbies or visitors. If we want the sport to survive you have to lead by example!

All the politics that go on

Australian Comps (at present), you can pretty much guess who is going to win before it even starts

Visitors who don't care about how they treat your local spot

I love...

All the awesome friends I've made and people I've met

Being self employed and kiting whenever there is wind and I've no urgent work (this does backfire sadly)

My friends who don't care what tricks you do or how good you are as they're only out there to enjoy it and have fun!

Everything about the sport...it rocks and I always wonder what I did with my time before I started kiting!!

I hated today.... 15/20kn knots on the BOM predicted, fully gusting to 12.
tried a 14 vapour though, and saw Ben from Choice kitesurfing get totally cleaned up (smashed) by a 15m flysurfer while walking down the little track to 2nd beach at woodies.
I dont usually laugh at someone elses expense, but as he was alright.
Ha Ha Ha, and one for waveslave LOL.
Mate, hope the camera's OK, but next time GET THE SHOT, HA HA.

Not having a camera attached to me internally to capture some 80 year old looping it on the sand and flying head first into the someone elses kite, then getting up and flying the other way like a ragdoll.

Could it have been pina's point? I recall some old dude that was down kitesurfing there everyday that i was for a week on his c kites, beginner to intermediate by looking at his stance and ability, he looked to be in his late 60's perhaps mid 70's (not to cause offence) anyhow.. was flying c kites and i was thinking , thats awesome to see someone that age cruizing about, hope i can do that when i am his age!

Groms might be able to do all that flexi dangle stuff but when you see someone that age giving it a go then personally I think he has more at stake than the younguns!

Whilst you might feel cool doing something extreme you soon realise kiting is not extreme and you are not cool when you see a 70year old on a c kite.

If I just asked for a wage based on the current avg. wind speed, 20knts = $20 and so on... I'd be better off.
