Im thinking about taking a larger size foil on an overseas trip but was wondering would the travel benefits of a foil ( ie smaller/lighter packing, no pump and no potential leak probs ) be an advantage or will it be outweighed by the size-power ratio for performance. Expecting sub 20 knts on the trip to Indo.

Is a 14m foil as powerful as a 14m inflatable ?

cheers

This will depend on the type of foil you go with.
The ARC shape foils of recent years have dropped a bit of power and prefer decent winds for water use.

Most bridled foils like the Flysurfer Speed and HQ NEO will make more power than an equivalent LEI and you can choose a size smaller.

The newer FS Psycho are similar power to LEI kites for their size and are designed to feel and respond more like a LEI.

your foil won't work where our going
Check you some of the cheap flysurfers in the sell section, they will do the trick.
